Recently, Glenis stopped by the front desk at our Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA and shared something that meant a lot to us. She told us she'd been intimidated by gyms for a long time and was nervous about joining, but her kids encouraged her to give us a try.

Now, she's excited to continue her fitness journey, and her kids feel like they've found a place where they belong, too.

Stories like hers remind us why we do what we do. We're so grateful to be part of your journey!

Our Annual Meeting was a celebration of the people, partnerships, and purpose that make our community stronger every day. Together, we reflected on a year of meaningful impact and shared accomplishments.

We were proud to recognize our Volunteers of the Year for their outstanding dedication and service: Kim Whiteley (Arthur J. Glatfelter YMCA), Carol and Ken Crone (Bob Hoffman Dover YMCA), Brianne Wagner (City Center YMCA), Linda Dehaven (Lampeter-Strasburg YMCA), Cathy & Neil Taylor (The W. Dale Brougher Foundation YMCA), and Matt Blough (Graham Aquatic Center).

A special congratulations to Gina Kruper, recipient of the Lifetime of Service Award, for her unwavering commitment to the Y and the countless ways she has strengthened our mission over the years.

We also honored retiring board members, Jeff Glass, Teke Drummond, and Jeremy Lynch, for their dedicated service, and recognized our retiring CFO, Cindy Aument, for her years of dedication and lasting contributions to our organization.

Meet Catherine! As one of Jason's personal training clients at City Center YMCA, she has worked hard to prioritize her health and fitness, and she's now off on an exciting adventure. She recently shared this thoughtful message with us.

“Thank you again for working with me to develop a series of isometric exercises that I can do while traveling.

We’re currently in the Colorado Rockies doing day hikes, and thanks to your expertise and guidance, I haven’t needed a single “down day” for recovery.

As a result, I’ve been able to fully enjoy every part of this adventure.

Thank you again for making such a meaningful difference in my quality of life. Your help has had a real impact, and I’m very grateful.”

Last Thursday, Officer Caitlyn Stallings visited the City Center YMCA to spend time with the pre-K classes during a special reading activity. As both a dedicated member of the YMCA community and an officer with the Bureau of Police Lancaster City, PA, Officer Stallings shared her love of reading while helping children build excitement around books and learning.

The students were excited to welcome Officer Stallings into their classroom as she read stories aloud, answered questions, and talked with the children about the important role police officers play in the community. Her visit created a fun and engaging experience that encouraged literacy, curiosity, and positive community connections.

The YMCA greatly appreciates Officer Stallings for taking the time to visit and make such a meaningful impact on the children. Experiences like these help strengthen relationships between young learners and local community leaders while creating lasting memories for our pre-K students.

Meet our City Center YMCA members Linda, Carol, and Jody ❤️

After spinal cord surgery, Linda says the only way she was able to recover was by walking in the pool at the Y. That’s where she met Carol, and the two quickly became close friends. Through surgeries, rehab, and life’s challenges, they found support not only in each other, but in the welcoming community around them.

Linda says the friendships, laughter, and encouragement she’s found at the Y truly keep her going. She also brings her husband, who is living with dementia, and says the kindness and respect shown by both staff and members mean so much to their family.

Jody moved here from South Carolina to be closer to family and now joins her mom and Carol for workouts and swims several mornings each week. She says the Y feels welcoming, safe, and family oriented, making it the perfect way to start the day.

Carol, who uses the pool for joint replacement rehab, says she and Linda motivate each other, share lots of laughs, and have built unforgettable friendships along the way.
