Our Story

Our mission is to *engage* the community and nonprofit organizations in a way that will *enrich* and *empower* lives. *Everyone* is welcome at The E, our hub for nonprofits.

The Emerald Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established in 2010, which has historically contributed funding to worthy charitable, non-profit organizations that focus on education, youth, and healthcare research.

In an effort to impact the community in a much larger way, we have since purchased a 30,000-sq-ft building in Lancaster, PA, now referred to as The Emerald Community Campus (ECC) or the “E”. The building was a former community center and includes office space, gymnasium, café, ballroom, outdoor pool, tennis courts, soccer fields, and much more.

We have turned the building into a non-profit hub and community center. The Emerald Foundation is no longer simply distributing funds directly to non-profits, but now utilizing the “E” to help and support worthy non-profits within the building as well as establishing its own non-profit programming to address unmet community needs. Furthermore, by having many non-profits working together within the building, we are developing new ideas, and sharing space and resources which decreases our tenant’s overhead costs. Through this collaboration among so many non-profits in the community, we are establishing best practices and ultimately increasing the quality of services as well as program efficiency and effectiveness.
