Today, we reflect on the significance of Juneteenth and celebrate the culture, strength, and resilience of the Black community.

On June 19, 1865, more than 250,000 enslaved Black people in Texas learned they were free. This day came to be known as Juneteenth—a time to celebrate, gather, reflect on the past, and look to the future.

At Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster, we believe every young person deserves the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their full potential. Juneteenth serves as an important reminder of our shared responsibility to create communities where all young people feel valued, supported, and empowered.

Members recently attended the Peace in the Streets Block Party, where they connected with community organizations, participated in activities, and learned about efforts to promote peace, support mental wellness, and reduce violence in our community.

We are grateful for opportunities that encourage young people to learn, engage, and be part of positive change. 💙

🔆 Camp Hogan is officially underway for another summer!

As campers return for a season of adventure, we're looking back at some of the hands-on STEM experiences that sparked curiosity and discovery last summer.

These experiences encouraged kids to ask questions, explore the world around them, and discover something new each day.

We can't wait to see what campers discover this summer! Thank you to the Arconic Foundation for making STEM opportunities possible for Club kids. 💙

🎉 Happy Friday! Last Friday, members had a great time exploring downtown Lancaster during First Friday!

They enjoyed a historical trolley tour through the city, stopped by Lancaster City Police’s “Legen-Dairy” First Friday event for milkshakes, and wrapped up the evening with pizza. 🥤🍕

It was a fun opportunity to learn, explore, and make memories together. 💙

🎉 We had a great time at Michaels’ Party Shop LIVE event!

As part of the national partnership between Boys & Girls Clubs of America and Michaels, we joined the celebration at our local store to share information about Club programs, Camp Hogan, volunteer opportunities, and more.

Thank you to Michaels for the opportunity to be part of this event and for choosing the Boys & Girls Club of Lancaster as the region’s partner organization. 💙

Shout out to Clubhouse Director Nichelle for creating these special Boys & Girls Club cookies! 🍪

Last week, members joined local artist Terian Mack for a mural project at Carter & MacRae Elementary School. The mural celebrates inclusivity, autism awareness, the many cultures and languages represented in SDOL, and future leaders.

You may recognize Terian’s work from outside our Lemon Street Clubhouse and other locations throughout Lancaster City.

Our members were proud to leave their mark on a mural that reflects the strength and diversity of the community. 💙

Be sure to check out the finished mural on the Farnum Street playground at Carter & MacRae! 🎨

🏊🏽🚴🏃🏾 Congratulations to Boys & Girls Club alum and Board Member Tom Scheer on breaking the Guinness World Record for the most IRONMAN 70.3 races completed in one year!

Those who attended Play It Forward heard Tom share his Boys & Girls Club story and the impact the Club had on his life. Throughout his record-breaking journey, he continued to shine a light on the opportunities Boys & Girls Clubs create and the resilience of Club members and alumni.

We are grateful for the many ways Tom has championed the Boys & Girls Club and proud to celebrate this incredible achievement. His accomplishment is a powerful reminder of all that is possible for Club Kids everywhere. 💙

Thank you to the Solomon Organization for inviting us to be part of Lancaster’s first Give A Chance Charitable Event!

We enjoyed connecting with fellow nonprofit organizations and learning more about the many ways they are making an impact throughout Lancaster County.

It was a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the work being done to strengthen our community. 💙
