CSA Pickup Locations Confirmed!

We’re excited to continue offering CSA pickup at Longfellow Health Clubs in Natick and Wayland this season.

These locations have been great partners over the years, helping make fresh, local food more accessible to their communities. We truly appreciate their continued support and collaboration.

If you’re nearby, Longfellow is a convenient place to pick up your weekly share this summer!

Thoreau Club in Concord is back as a CSA pickup spot this season.

It’s been a consistent and convenient location for our members, and we appreciate the continued partnership. Having locations like this makes it easier to connect people with fresh, local food.

If you’re in the Concord area, this is a great option for your weekly pickup.

We’re excited to share that Joash Nyansageria and Grace Kionga of J&G Green Farms have invested in a tractor to support their growing operation!

Investments like this support long-term growth, improve efficiency, and help ensure more fresh, local food reaches the community.

Thank you Black Farmer Fund for investing in farmers and the future of local food systems.

World Farmers Apiary

Congratulations to Milkah Midenyo, Barnabas Forndia, Anna Kalenderian, and Ngala Shofola — our first group of World Farmers beekeepers!

They received their bees on a very cold day, set up their hives, and had to wait a few days for warmer weather before safely installing them. Now their bees are getting to work, helping pollinate crops at the Flats all summer long.

We’re excited to follow their journey and hopefully see World Farmers honey next year!

Fun Bee Fact:
A single worker bee visits around 1,000 flowers just to fill her honey stomach. Over her entire lifetime, she’ll only produce about one teaspoon of honey.

In their first year, hives focus on building comb and storing enough honey for the winter. It’s not until year two that they really start producing surplus honey.

We truly appreciate how Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources (MDAR) administered the federally-funded Resilient Food Systems Infrastructure (RFSI) grant, allowing farmers to apply for equipment-only grants to improve middle of the supply chain efforts and systems. Thanks to this, Lexavah Farms was able to source and purchase their new refrigerated van for their crop deliveries across the state of Massachusetts and beyond! This incredible opportunity will ensure Lexavah's crops can make it into the many homes seeking their unique East African selection.

On March 26th, community members, nonprofit representatives, and farmers gathered at the State House for HIP Lobby Day to share the importance of the Healthy Incentives Program (HIP) with legislators. HIP helps low-income customers to afford local vegetables by offering an added benefit when spending their SNAP dollars with local farmers and other verified vendors.

Nalee Yang, a farmer in our program, was asked to share about the need to pass full funding. She shared how critical the program is to her operation, with 50% of her total customers activating their HIP benefits to access the cultural crops she grows. Nalee also urged the Stateto allow for new farm vendors, particularly for small-scale and diversified farmers. Currently, the way Nalee's customers access their HIP benefits through vouchers from the market managers to redeem at Nalee's farmers' market stand. Customer lines would be greatly reduced if Nalee were an independent HIP vendor.

You can find Nalee at the following farmers' markets this summer:

Happy National Agriculture Day

March has days where it feels like winter, and days where it feels like spring. This photo was taken earlier this season when the fields were covered in snow. It may look quiet on the farm, but winter is not a time to pause or hibernate, it’s time to prepare!

Behind the scenes, farmers in our Flats Mentor Farm program are:
• Ordering seeds for the season ahead
• Seed starting and tending their seedlings
• Preparing greenhouses for early planting
• Maintaining tools and equipment
• Planning crops and markets

Every decision made over the winter months by farmers shapes their harvest and sales. It’s the quiet beginning of a lot of hard work that eventually turns into the food on your table. This is where it begins.

PS. if you're looking to invest in local food but unable to consistently make it to farmers' markets, consider signing up for CSA with a local farm! Ours is available for Sign Up Today! www.worldfarmers.org/CSA

Members of the World Farmers team recently attended MDAR’s Annual Agricultural Resource Fair at Mount Wachusett Community College

Hosted by the Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources, the event brought together farmers, service providers, and agricultural organizations for a day of workshops, networking, and information sharing.

Sessions covered topics including farm marketing, land access, grant opportunities, agritourism, farm financing, and selling farm products to schools.

Events like this help farmers connect with the programs, grants, and technical support available through MDAR, the United States Department of Agriculture and many partner organizations working to strengthen agriculture across Massachusetts.

Thank you to MDAR and all the participating organizations for hosting this valuable event for the farming community. Massachusetts Department of Agricultural Resources
