The GateHouse Restoring the human spirit through recovery. This page is for alumni, family and friends of The GateHouse. The length of stay varies.

All of The Gate House programs provide the client with quality, reality-oriented professional counseling services and basic life skills training so that they may fully develop. The treatment is based on the philosophy of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous, and principles of a holistic approach to recovery. Our staff and extended resources include competent and knowledgeable, certified, a

nd degreed professionals who specialize in substance abuse, codependency, and mental health problems. The residential programs, known as The Gate House for Men and The Gate House for Women, provide structured living and on-going treatment for adult men and women recovering from chemical dependency. Many people find that after they have completed an inpatient detox or rehabilitation program, they need continued support. The Gate House programs provide a safe place for people who need a little more time in a drug-free environment away from old people, places, and temptations where they can continue to stabilize before moving forward. Both programs are Pennsylvania State licensed and are recognized by the Pennsylvania Client Placement Criteria at level 2B. The transitional housing/recovery house program provides a safe supportive living environment conducive to emotional and spiritual needs of an individual new to recovery. Outpatient treatment consists of individualized treatment planning which includes the client in deciding the course of their treatment. Outpatient services also include assessments and referrals to community-based resources, relapse prevention planning, and the practicing of recovery skills without disrupting daily routines and is offered for men and women at both our Mountville, PA and Lititz, PA location.

A few days before The GateHouse’s third annual Cultural Celebration, severe storms left Long’s Park closed and the event’s future uncertain. But when the park reopened, our community showed up.

Clients, families, staff, and guests came together for an afternoon filled with food, art, music, dance, and plenty of opportunities to connect.

More than a celebration, the day was a reminder of what community can make possible, especially when plans change and people choose to keep moving forward together.

Recovery often continues long after treatment ends.

The GateHouse Residential Extended Care program gives clients a safe, community-based place to keep building stability through daily structure, recovery meetings, therapeutic groups, case management, and peer connection.

With gender-specific homes in Lititz, Marietta, and Mountville, this program helps bridge the gap between clinical care and everyday life in recovery.

Self-care is a meaningful part of recovery.

It can look like keeping a steady routine, attending a meeting, setting a boundary, getting outside, or taking a quiet moment to breathe.

On International Self-Care Day, we’re reminded that caring for yourself helps create the stability, clarity, and strength needed for long-term healing.
