Grant County Cancer Coalition

Lighting the Way Through Research and Recovery The Coalition provides help with some of the extra expenses cancer patients and their families incur.

The Grant County Cancer Coalition is a non-profit organization created to provide financial assistance to cancer patients and their families in Grant County, Wisconsin. The coalition was formed in an effort to raise funds to help in the local area, directly helping friends and neighbors. For example, transportation expenses can be extensive for people traveling to other cities for treatments. Thes

e additional, and often unexpected, expenses are the focus of support from the Coalition. The nine-member volunteer board considers each application, and assistance is provided through vouchers. Funds are available to anyone living in Grant County who is currently diagnosed with cancer. Fund-raising events are organized by the members, and tax-deductible contributions from individuals are always welcome. The board met last night. We are having some exciting changes to the benefit this year! Put the date on your calendar. Our patient list is growing considerably every year and we are counting on a successful day. See you September 19th!!

Thank you to the Platteville Thrift Shop for your generosity!

Jaquie Varholik is presenting a check to Shirley Straka and Kris Wolf from the Grant County Cancer Coalition. The funds raised by the Coalition are used to assist cancer patients with gift cards, bills, transportation costs or anything else they may need while going through treatment.

May is bladder cancer awareness month. Some key symptoms are blood in the urine, frequent urination, painful urination, pain in the pelvic or back area, and trouble passing urine.

Its national Volunteer week. Did you know that the grand County Cancer Coalition is all volunteer based? We have a board of nine members who are all volunteers and everyone that helps us with our fundraising efforts volunteers their time as well. We are very thankful for all of our volunteer helpers. And we would love to hear from you if you would like to help in anyway.

After 19 years of dedicated service, founding President Linda Hahn has announced her retirement from the Grant County Cancer Coalition. We extend our sincere appreciation to Linda for her leadership and countless hours devoted to supporting cancer patients in our community. Her commitment and dedication have helped shape the Cancer Coalition into the organization that it is today. Thank you for all you have done.
