The Coalition for Healthy Youth was founded to identify community needs and resources, promoting greater collaboration, and bringing research-based prevention and intervention services to our county's youth. The goals of the Coalition are to:

1) reduce substance abuse among youth in Lancaster County and, over time, among adults by addressing the factors in our community that increase the risk of

substance abuse and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse;

2) establish and strengthen collaboration among Lancaster County’s private nonprofit agencies, and Federal, State and local governments to support the efforts of community coalitions to prevent and reduce substance abuse among youth.

🚨 An opioid overdose can happen to anyone. Knowing what to do could save a life.

Signs of a suspected opioid overdose may include:
🔹 Slow, shallow, or stopped breathing
🔹 Unresponsiveness or inability to wake the person
🔹 Pinpoint pupils
🔹 Blue, gray, or pale lips and fingernails
🔹 Gurgling, choking, or snoring-like sounds

If you suspect an overdose, remember:

📞 CALL 911 FIRST

🛌 LAY the person on their back.

💨 SPRAY NARCAN® into one nostril. If there is no response after 2–3 minutes, administer an additional dose. Continue giving additional doses every 2–3 minutes as needed until help arrives.

✅ STAY with the person and monitor their breathing until emergency responders arrive. Place the person in the recovery position (on their side) to help prevent choking or aspiration.

💙 NARCAN® (naloxone) is a life-saving medication that can reverse an opioid overdose. It is safe, easy to use, and has no effect on someone who does not have opioids in their system. When in doubt, administer NARCAN®.

Counseling Services of Lancaster is a community distributor of NARCAN®. We provide NARCAN® free of charge, anonymously, and with no questions asked.

Stop by our agency or visit us at community events to receive a free kit and learn how to use it. Being prepared could help save the life of a friend, family member, neighbor, or loved one.
