Rambles of gratitude from Lancaster Pagan Pride.
Now that I’ve had a few days to process everything from last weekend, I can’t help but sit in awe of the immense beauty of what we created together.
The gratitude is almost overwhelming. The pictures hold the evidence, and the memories will hold this sacred day, forever.
Seeing people finally connect who had never met in person before. Watching people re connect with old friends who haven’t crossed paths in some time. Watching new friendships begin to form right in front of me. Witnessing hope being created and love being shared so freely. It was, in every single sense, unforgettable. I would love to pick a favorite part of this day but it’s impossible to choose.
There is one word that keeps returning to me when I think about that day…
Frith.
Frith is a Norse word often used to describe a social and spiritual bond in which people are committed to one another’s wellbeing, safety, and prosperity.
It is KINSHIP.
This isn’t simply “keeping the peace.” It is the ACTIVE and dedicated work of creating the conditions where peace, trust, safety, belonging, and community can flourish. Where they set down deep ROOTS.
To me, there isn’t a more perfect word for the energy of last Saturday.
Because for one day, we didn’t just gather in the same place. We made REAL space for one another. We protected one another, we laughed, we cried, we listened. We celebrated EACH OTHER without caution or fear.
We REMEMBERED that community isn’t something we simply find. It is something we create. Together. It is cultivated, grown and harvested by US. Not something handed to us by another.
We are the seeds.
We are the soil.
We ARE the harvest.
What are we growing, ON PURPOSE?
This call was answered by all of you. 🥹
I will be eternally grateful for this moment in time, and for each and every one of you who shared it with us. all of us.
Thank you for helping to create something so beautiful. My heart is so incredibly full.
