It’s been over a year now that SafeHouse was created and there is not a day that goes by that we don’t reflect on everything that has happened since our beginning.
Police violence, white supremacist threats, explosions, tear gas—yes.
But more importantly: healing, connection, progress, justice—things we could not have seen without the efforts of so many other individuals and organizations who came together for a serious grassroots effort (you know who you are).
SafeHouse served its purpose for the time it was needed, and a new season is upon us. Our relationship with has grown throughout this past year as well, and as we look toward the future, we felt the safest home for SafeHouse to live in is with the YWCA.
We value their partnership and feel that the mission and future of SafeHouse will be respected and carried out best by them.
So what’s next?
The SafeHouse team is progressing in our own personal adventures: murals, business, tech, education, etc. We will all continue to be involved in our own ways with this merger, so stay tuned for that!
We would like to thank everyone who donated, everyone who had to wake up at 6am only to get home at 2am, everyone who marched, everyone who looked the threat of death and injustice in its face and kept going, everyone who spread the word, everyone who devoted themselves to learning and then took action, everyone who showed up, everyone who organized, everyone who protected—we thank you.
