🚨🚨 Breaking News🚨🚨
Meet Cynthia Gordon. Cynthia has accepted the role as the first Hispanic Assistant Cub Master in Lancaster County for Pack 82!!!

Cynthia is a great asset to the pack as she brings knowledge, skills, talent, and she’s a very hard worker and doesn’t mind to get a little dirty. She’s also served our country in The US Marine Corps.

She’s a wonderful persons and parent and I know that she will rock it out, with her handsome son by her side. I shed so many tears awarding her this opportunity. This will be Cynthia’s 2nd year with Pack 82. During her first year she served as the Lions leader. We welcome you with open arms. 🤗

It gives me great honor to introduce to the world Pack 82 new Cub Master Mrs. Sally Craton

Sally has been in scouting for quite some time. She started with her youngest son Luke in Cub Scouts and now her oldest son Trent is in the boys Troop 720. Sally plays a major role to Cub scouting. If you’re new to Cub scouting you may have heard her on the phone welcoming you to the pack or helping answer questions. Before being the Cub Master she was also the Webelos den leader to the 4th graders. If there was anything I needed or even thought of she would be there. We love you girl and you’ll do great!

Thank you Sally for accepting this new role, and I hope you enjoy your new job!

25 MAY 2026
MEMORIAL DAY – Did You Know?

• Memorial Day was originally called “Decoration Day” after the American Civil War and began as a tradition of decorating Soldiers’ graves with flowers, flags, and wreaths.

• The first ceremony took place at Arlington National Cemetery on 30 May 1868 where both Union and Confederate Soldiers are buried.

• The National Cemetery Administration, part of the Department of Veterans Affairs, credits Mary Ann Williams of the Ladies Memorial Association of Columbus, Georgia with being the first to express the idea of an annual date to decorate the graves of Civil War veterans with flowers.

• After World War I, the holiday expanded to honor all American military personnel who died in service to our Nation.

• In 1971, Memorial Day became an official federal holiday observed on the last Monday in May.

• Protocol for flying the American flag on Memorial Day includes raising it quickly to the top of the pole at sunrise, immediately lowering it to half-staff until 12:00 noon, and displaying it at full staff from noon until sunset.

• A National Moment of Remembrance is encouraged each Memorial Day at 3:00 PM local time across the United States.

• Memorial Day honors those who died while serving in our Armed Forces, while Veterans Day honors all who served in the military.

Join us for a special Memorial Day Ceremony at the National Infantry Museum on Monday, May 25 at 11:00 AM in Cavezza Hall. This meaningful indoor ceremony will honor the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation through remembrance, reflection, and gratitude.

The ceremony will feature a keynote address from COL (R) Rob Choppa, along with a community gathering dedicated to preserving the legacy of America’s fallen heroes.

📢 A New, Simpler Renewal Cycle for All Members

Scouting America announced an important change at last week’s National Annual Meeting that will simplify the membership and unit renewal process nationwide.

📅 By February 2028, all members and all units will have a single, common renewal month of February.

This change is in response to feedback from unit leaders and other Scouters who asked for a simpler, more consistent renewal experience. We appreciate and value their input.

🔑 Key updates include:

🔹 Beginning September 2026, all units due for renewal will renew to February 2028.

🔹 All memberships and unit charters will have a common renewal month of February by February 2028

➡️ To simplify the process and in response to unit leaders' requests, Scouting America is returning to unit control of member renewals. If the unit does not renew a member, that member may renew themselves after the unit-only period closes.

⚠️ The current 60-day grace period will end December 31, 2026

🔹 Members renewing in November 2026 will still receive a 30-day grace period through December

🔹 Members renewing in December 2026 must renew by December 31 to avoid being dropped

🛠️ To support the transition during 2026 and 2027:

🔹 Beginning in September 2026, new and renewing units will use the standard charter fee plus pro rata fees through February 2028

🔹 No changes for new and renewing members through 2026

📌 Unit leaders should watch for updates from their local council, as additional guidance and implementation details may vary by council during the transition period.

This is a significant operational change designed to reduce complexity and create a more streamlined experience for volunteers, families, and councils alike.
