For the Blimline family, good things come in threes. After receiving a call from COBYS about a potential foster placement, Terry and Becky Blimline said “yes” to three siblings. From the start, the children were comfortable in the home, and over the next year and a half, the family grew together before their adoption was finalized in November 2024. Throughout their journey, the family leaned on COBYS for support.

“I feel like we’ve used EVERY service available through COBYS,” Becky shared. The family received parenting education and trauma informed counseling services. “We had weekly meetings with Landon Miller, and without him we truly could not have done this. He counseled us on better ways to deal with our kids’ behaviors, and helped us to be better parents.”

Foster care and adoption aren’t always smooth sailing, and the family was grateful for the support COBYS provided during challenging moments. Because of our donors, we're able to provide a level of care and support that goes far beyond that which is covered by county and state funding. COBYS Staff Spotlight. Jillian Charitable, Permanency Caseworker, recently celebrated her first work anniversary with COBYS. A privilege for Jillian is seeing the long-term growth in the families she serves. Being witness to this growth across many cases is proof that hard work and commitment make a difference. One specific case where she built a deep relationship of trust and commitment with the parents working to reunify with their child highlights this. Jillian says, “The hard work and commitment led to growth and reunification, an especially sweet moment.” This is a wonderful example of how COBYS serves and cares for families. We’re proud to have Jillian be a part of our team delivering care with the COBYS Difference. Thank you, Jillian, for going above and beyond to make sure everyone is heard, valued and supported!

Our Counseling Center made a big impact over the past year, holding 5,282 counseling sessions in support of individuals, couples, and families. During these sessions, COBYS therapists address issues such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and relational challenges. Helping our clients get the care they need helps to build stronger families and, in turn, a stronger community.

We are so grateful to have had 22 newly licensed foster families, and six kinship families approved this past year. However, there is an ongoing shortage of foster families, both locally and nationally. We need more foster families who can provide care to children until they're able to be reunited with family or adopted.

COBYS provides unparalleled training and support for foster families. Is it time for you?

COBYS foster families are:
• Providers of love, guidance, nurturing, and structure for children in need
• Married or single persons
• Families with or without biological children
• Families with or without a stay-at-home caregiver
• Willing to explore options of care, including traditional foster care, foster-to-adopt, and short-term emergency or respite care
