It only takes 6" of water to stall a car, and 12" to wash it away. Turn Around, Don't Drown.

Level 3: Snow Emergency Canceled

Level 2 in Effect-

Main, arterial roads tend to be covered with some packed snow, but well plowed and passable.

-Some secondary roads are still snow covered and may be challenging for some vehicles.

-Some Township and residential area roads have not been cleared and could pose a challenge to motorists.

-Use extra caution on overpasses, bridges, on and off ramps.

-Keep speeds slower and add plenty of distance between vehicles ahead.

-Start off slow and start slowing/braking sooner than normal.

-Be mindful in areas with on-street parking. Residents may be present digging vehicles out of the snow.

-Our State, County, Township and local plow crews are continuing to do an amazing job of clearing hundreds of miles of roadway. Give them your space and gratitude.

-The Extreme Cold temperatures will be of utmost importance in the days ahead.

Be Safe!

-Sheriff Alex Lape

🦃 Happy Thanksgiving from Hocking Township Fire Department! 🚒🚑

We want to wish everyone a safe, happy, and healthy Thanksgiving holiday. Whether you’re celebrating with family, friends, or your firehouse crew, we hope your day is filled with good food and great company.

As you prepare those delicious holiday meals, here are a few Turkey Cooking Safety Tips to keep your home and loved ones safe:

🔥 Never leave your cooking unattended. Most kitchen fires start when someone steps away “just for a minute.”

🦃 Keep the turkey fryer outside. Always use fryers outdoors, on a flat surface, and far from buildings, decks, and garages.

💧 Thaw the turkey completely before frying. Ice and hot oil don’t mix and can cause dangerous flare-ups.

👩‍🍳 Keep kids and pets away from hot surfaces, stoves, and fryers—create a 3-foot safety zone.

🧯 Have a fire extinguisher nearby. And remember—never use water on a grease or oil fire.

From all of us at Hocking Township Fire Department, Happy Thanksgiving! Stay safe, stay thankful, and enjoy the holiday! 🍁🧡
