Our public policy team recently spent a day in Harrisburg as part of the Pennsylvania Association for the Blind's (PAB) policy day. We visited legislative offices to educate legislators and staff about VisionCorps and our rehab services for people who are blind or vision impaired.

We visited House and Senate legislative offices to advocate for the $4 million+ funding to continue for PAB so that VisionCorps will receive some state funding to help provide for its vision rehabilitation services.

Yesterday, our team came together wearing purple in support of Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month. By “going purple,” we joined millions across the country in raising awareness, honoring those affected, and showing our commitment to brain health.

Every piece of purple represents hope—for continued research, stronger support systems, and a future without Alzheimer’s. We’re proud of our staff for standing united and helping spark important conversations in our community. 💜

VisionCorps was proud to be honored by VisionServe Alliance as the winner of the Community Mobility Champion Award, presented by UZURV.

Linda Greth, left, our VP of rehabilitation and education, accepted the award on behalf of VisionCorps. She is on the left with Jason Eckert, VP and COO, VisionServe Alliance and Ron Brooks, UZURVs Senior Director of Policy and Partnership.

This award, presented by UZURV, recognizes an individual or organization that has demonstrated a commitment to advocacy and partnership resulting in increased community mobility for blind and low-vision individuals.

“VisionCorps understands that freedom of movement improves the quality of life for all people, including those who are blind/low-vision, and it takes hard work, dedication and array of services — all designed to do one important thing: increase the ability of blind/low-vision community members to get out and about, and enjoy everything the Lancaster community has to offer. We couldn’t be more pleased to recognize VisionCorps for their work," said Ron Brooks.

“VisionCorps is a powerful advocate for those with vision loss, participating in a broad range of committees charged with reviewing and proposing new mobility routes and options in the community,” said Jason Eckert.
