🚨HAPPENING TODAY!!!🚨

Learn how Meta Glasses can provide greater access and independence for people who are blind or have low vision, especially in environments that are not readily accessible. This session will review the devices required to use Meta Glasses, the everyday tasks they can assist with, common voice commands, where to purchase them, and practical tips for getting started. There will also be time for questions and answers.

The session will be presented by Taylor Newswanger, VisionCorps' low vision occupational therapist (OT) and Manager of Therapy Services, who has spent the past 10 years working with the vision loss community to come up with creative adaptations that will give clients more independence in their daily lives.

was a lot of fun! The event, sponsored by the Drishti Foundation USA raises money to support people who are blind or vision impaired, including VisionCorps!

VisionCorps took part in the the 5K Run/I Mile Walk yesterday in Chester County with some of our local VIPs (vision impaired persons!) including Natanya Sortland and Cindy Lou Altman.

We met lots of new friends -- and enjoyed the games, raffles, music, dances, and MORE!

Thanks to all the volunteers of for a wonderful event!

Lancaster-city based VisionCorps will host a free audio webinar about how camera-equipped eyeglasses can assist people who are blind or have impaired vision at from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.

August is and a good time to check your child's vision at the start of the school year.

Uncorrected vision problems can impair child development, interfere with learning, and even lead to permanent vision loss.

Recent studies from Prevent Blindness and other partners have found:

• One out of every 122 children has permanent vision loss.
• There are 25 percent more girls with vision loss than boys.
• One out of every 45 children in Medicaid/CHIP had an amblyopia or strabismus diagnosis in 2019. (This includes one out of every 94 children with amblyopia and one out of every 70 with strabismus.)
• Among the community-level indicators included in the Prevent Blindness Children’s Vision Health Map, vision loss is most closely correlated with the prevalence of children in poverty (+55%).

It's !

We love dogs (doesn't everyone?!) but we also want to educate people about dog handlers who are blind and vision impaired and their K-9 companions.

Here are two common myths --

𝗠𝗬𝗧𝗛: Anyone can walk up and pet a guide dog if they aren’t moving with the handler.
When a dog guide and handler are stationary, the dog is still on duty.

𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗧𝗛: Treat dog guides as working animals, unless the harness comes off. Always ask the handler for permission before petting or talking to the dog.

𝗠𝗬𝗧𝗛: Dog guides are trained for specific routes and locations.

𝗧𝗥𝗨𝗧𝗛: Our K-9 companions are incredibly versatile, and capable of navigating diverse environments with ease. Through rigorous training, dog guides are equipped to handle various settings, empowering their handlers with vision impairments to travel freely without restriction.

By providing independence and mobility, these skilled canines play a vital role in breaking down barriers and expanding opportunities for people with vision loss.
