October 10th is World Mental Health Day!

On this day, we shine a spotlight on the importance of mental well-being by raising awareness, challenging stigma, advocating for stronger policies and increasing access to mental health support for all.

It reminds us that mental health is just as vital as physical health.

We would like to recognize our behavioral health team for their contributions in helping those in our Lanai community make their mental health a priority and uncovering ways in which they can improve their overall quality of life.

Mahalo to Dr. Cori Takesue (Chief Behavioral Health Officer), Dr. Allison Seales (Clinical Psychologist), and current psychology practicum trainees, Daniel Baon and Rachel Domgaard.

Thank you for your listening ear and guidance!

Mental health matters because it affects how we think, feel, connect with others, and navigate everyday life. 💛

When we neglect our mental well-being, stress, anxiety, or other challenges can impact our relationships, work, sleep, and overall quality of life.

Seeking help isn’t a sign of weakness - it’s a meaningful step toward understanding yourself, building healthy coping skills, and feeling supported.

You don’t have to go through it alone.

“The greatness of a community is most accurately measured by the compassionate actions of its members.”-Coretta Scott King

Thank you to everyone who showed up yesterday to bring messages of love, hope, and togetherness.

We are stronger together.

Please join Dr. Cori Takesue, Lanai Community Health Center’s Chief Behavioral Health Officer and board member of the American Foundation of Su***de Prevention-Hawai‘i Chapter, tomorrow for a sign waving event that brings awareness to su***de prevention.

We will meet by the flagpole at Dole Building from 4:30 to 5:30 pm.

Bring your own signs or use one of ours (come at 4 pm if you want to make a sign).

September is National Su***de Prevention and Awareness Month.

Su***de continues to be a serious and persistent public health concern in Hawai‘i. The most recent results from the National Survey on Drug Use and Health (NSDUH) showed an estimated 13.9 million U.S. adults aged 18 or older had serious thoughts of su***de in 2025. In Hawai‘i, su***de is the tenth-leading cause of death overall. Adults aged 25-34 years old have the highest rate of su***de.

Su***de impacts everyone and can have lasting emotional, mental, physical and economic impacts on individuals, families, and communities.

Let’s come together as a community, strengthen our connections to each other, and save lives.

When you hear the words “self-care”, what comes to mind? Commercials sell self-care as expensive spa days. Self-care is a scientifically backed medical necessity, rather than just a luxury lifestyle trend. Rest boosts your brain’s cognitive function, memory, and creativity. Self-care is broken down into 5 distinct pillars. True wellness needs balance across them all. Need help with balance? Call LCHC today and make an appointment!
