Kurri Harris - Loan Officer, People's Partner for Community Development
Kurri Harris (Ishuuia Kaate – “Little Song” and Motse’eoo’e – “Sweet Medicine Woman”) is an enrolled member of the Apsáalooke (Crow) Nation and a descendant and life-long resident of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe. She serves as Loan Officer for People’s Partners for Community Development, a Native Community Development Financial Institution (CDFI) serving the Northern Cheyenne Reservation and surrounding communities. In her role, Kurri is dedicated to increasing access to responsible lending and financial opportunities for individuals, families and entrepreneurs. She underwrites consumer and microloans, helping clients reduce financial burdens through debt consolidation, establish or rebuild credit, and secure financing for essential life needs. While her primary focus is consumer lending, Kurri is actively growing her expertise in small business finance and works closely with entrepreneurs to support business development and economic growth within the communities serviced. She also serves on the Mountain Plains Regional Native CDFI Coalition’s Regional Revolving Loan Fund Loan Committee.
As a fifth-generation, Kurri carries forward a family tradition grounded in stewardship, resilience, and a deep respect for the land. Her agricultural upbringing instilled the values of hard work and responsibility that guide her approach to serving borrowers and supporting community economic development.
She earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Community Culture and Education from Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, Maryland, where she strengthened her passion for community development and education. A graduate of St. Labre Indian School, Kurri completed here high school education at the top of her class.
