This is a quote from Bob Ladouceur, Head Football Coach at De La Salle High School, Concord, California. He has the longest winning streak in high school football ~ 151 games. Although he's speaking about a football team, this thought pattern should be applied to our walk with God and our work as a team with our brothers and sisters. The most important component of any championship caliber team is
the commitment to creating a "brotherhood" among us. This task is bigger, tougher, and more elusive than any opponent we will ever face. It's a complete understanding that I must lose some of myself in order to find and help others. Individual egos must die in order for a team to live and a "brotherhood" to be born. To claim "I am a member of the brotherhood" simply means I know how to sacrifice for a just cause, cooperate with and serve others, respect the dignity of others, and to also rise up and respond when called upon. We must understand that when building a "brotherhood" often times our needs and wants are secondary to the greater good of the whole.
