The deadline to apply for the Low Income Energy Assistance Program (LIEAP) is March 31.

If you think your household may qualify, don’t wait to apply. The application period closes soon.

Applications for LIEAP must be received by DCF by 5 p.m. on March 31, 2026.

If you need help completing your application, Catholic Charities of Southwest Kansas may be able to assist.

🚧 Water Conservation Notice 🚧

Due to necessary pipe repairs, the City of Lakin Water Plant will be temporarily shut down.

🔧 Repairs are scheduled to take place tomorrow, Wednesday, 02/11/2026, now that all required parts have arrived.

While repairs are being completed, we ask all residents to please conserve water usage to help maintain system stability and ensure adequate supply for essential needs.

🚫 Please avoid the following until further notice:
• Watering lawns or landscaping
• Washing vehicles
• Running sprinklers
• Filling pools or hot tubs
• Using pressure washers
• Any non-essential water use

💧 Essential uses only (drinking, cooking, basic hygiene) during this time are greatly appreciated.

Our crews will be working diligently to complete repairs as quickly and safely as possible. We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we work to restore normal operations.

Updates will be shared as they become available.
