The new courts are officially lit and ready for action! Grab your paddle, rally your friends, and join us for exciting evening games under the lights.

Whether you’re squeezing in a match after work or looking for a fun night out, come play after dark and enjoy some nighttime dinkin’ around!

We expect the lights to be available from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.

Construction has officially begun on this much-needed community improvement!

🚧 The Buffalo Street Sidewalk Improvement Project Is Almost Complete! 🚧

All but one block of the sidewalk work along Buffalo Street has been completed—and it looks amazing!

This project was made possible through the 2024 and 2025 Western Kansas Community Foundation Our Community, Our Future grants, totaling $30,000.

We are grateful for WKCF’s continued investment in our community and excited about the improvements this project has brought to Buffalo Street!

With hopes of receiving another grant, we plan to complete the final block next year. We’re almost there! 👏

🚽🏃‍♀️ Run for the Toilet Fundraiser—A Success!

July was a hot month for running, but this fundraiser helped everyone stay motivated, beat the heat, and log some miles! 😏

Together, we raised a little over $5,000—so we’re calling it a great success!

A huge thank-you to the Lakin Broncs Cross Country Team, the community members who ran, and everyone who sponsored a runner or made a flat donation. Your support made this possible!

Luke and Kate each have a pair of Nike Dragonfly XC 2 shoes coming their way!

And now for the really exciting news: Construction on the new ADA-compliant restroom at Osborn Park is starting soon!

Fun at the Fair!

LCEG members had a fantastic time at the Kearny County Fair making cotton candy, giving rides on the barrel train during Carnival Game Night and selling 50/50 raffle tickets during Family Night Bingo!

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, purchased cotton candy, bought raffle tickets, or simply came by to visit. Your support means so much to us!

Every dollar raised helps Lakin Community Empowerment Group continue investing in projects and events that make our community an even better place to live. We couldn’t do it without you!

The 7:00 a.m. start came with a little extra challenge—a steady Kansas wind! 🌬️ We decided to blame the breeze for a few of our missed shots… and we’re sticking to that story! 😂
Thankfully, the wind eventually settled down, making for a beautiful morning of pickleball. We had a great crowd of spectators cheering on their favorite teams, helping create a fun atmosphere all morning long!

🎉 The bracket is set for the 4th of July Pickleball Tournament at Osborn Park, and the action begins at 7:00 a.m.!

This 14-team double-elimination tournament is sure to showcase some incredible talent, exciting rallies, and plenty of friendly competition.
There will be plenty of d***s, drives, smashes, and maybe even a few “I thought YOU had it!” moments. 😂

Bring your lawn chair, cheer on your favorite teams, and enjoy a fun-filled morning as we kick off our community’s America’s 250th Fourth of July Celebration! 🇺🇸

🌯 We’ll also have delicious breakfast burritos available for purchase—the perfect way to start your Independence Day!

See you bright and early at Osborn Park!
