Organization History
Since 1966, The Washington Karate Association has been one of the most respected and renowned karate organizations in the USA and around the world. The WKA Lakewood Dojo has especially been recognized as producing outstanding karate students that have shown great success in the community, education, and in competition arenas. Since its beginning in 1995, The Lakewood Dojo has
shaped the lives of thousands of children and adults alike. Our community has been positively impacted in many ways and, as a result, they have learned patience, compassion, diligence, and have gained the confidence and leadership skills that have molded them into successful individuals. The Lakewood Dojo is not only a karate school but a second home for kids who are dedicated to the sport and education. We have helped shape students into great athletes inside and outside of the Dojo. The karate students have big dreams and we do everything possible to help these dedicated students accomplish their goals. The Traditional Karate Promotional Fund- Booster Club
Mission Statement: The TKPF was formed in response to some of the special needs we have found in our community. In doing so, we will help to raise the public’s awareness and knowledge of Karate-Do and Sh*to-Ryu, a traditional form of Japanese martial arts. We will financially assist those students who have dedicated themselves to mastering the art and sport of Karate-Do by supporting their participation in local, national, and international competitive tournaments, as well as belt promotions and camps. The TKPF was formed in 2005 and is a 501 c 3 non-profit organization. It was created to help those dedicated students to pursue their goals and dreams to accomplish excellence. Over the last several years the TKPF has helped many karate students by awarding scholarships and assisting financially with tournament fees, promotions, team fees, and summer camps.
