This is from a dear friend of mine, Coreen Arosemena:

I love the story of Esther. The Lord often takes the most unlikely, in this case, a poor orphan girl, who was then elevated to the position of Queen of Persia. When learning of the plot against her people, she was overcome with fear, and could have lived just to save her own life, but she would have lived in darkness or lost her life anyway. Instead, she took a risk, sacrificing her life to do what was right, and saved a nation. Esther means “star” which shines brightly in darkness. Her life became a light in the darkness during that time in history.
I would venture to say that most of us don’t always feel very courageous, but something rises up in us at the story of Esther’s bravery. We want God to use us! Even if we don’t feel particularly special, we have all been handpicked by God with a divine appointment, to make a difference in our time and in this season. He has a plan and a purpose for each of us, a God-given niche that only we can fill.
We are light bearers and carriers of His peace. So wherever we go, the peace of God goes with us. His light in us dispels the darkness. The whole atmosphere can be changed, not because of us, but because of God in us. He makes manifest, diffuses, and spreads around to others the sweet aroma of the Lord in us. So like Esther, we too can come to see that we are handpicked by God for “such a time as this!”
Lord, we want our hearts to be completely Yours, and for You to have Your way in our lives. Help us to hear Your voice as you show us how we can make a difference. Help us not miss opportunities to bring the light of your presence and Your peace and love wherever we go. In Jesus’ name.
2 Chronicles 16:9 The eyes of the Lord move to and fro throughout the earth that He may strongly support those whose heart is completely His.”
Esther 4:14 “For if you remain silent at this time, relief and deliverance for the Jews will arise from another place, but you and your father’s family will perish. And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
