We are a Rat Rescue here in Colorado with locations in Denver and Now in Colorado Springs! We have a location in Denver and In Colorado Springs!

Smol Beans is a Rat Rescue who takes all rats of any age, sex, condition or situation!

WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK. MEDICAL ISSUE TRIGGER WARNING. A taste of the reality of rescuing.

This poor girl just can't catch a break. Jennie has been doing so well with her sister Johanna. They have both gained weight. No more URI, or UTI. No more mites. She was doing well till today

She is showing signs of stroke most likely and will be seeing the vet in the morning :(..

Just hurts so bad. She is so tough, she is so sweet and all she wants to do is come out and explore. She gives me kisses and prefers pets over food. She is just an amazing animal and it is just so hard to see such a good rat have such a hard time.

Excuse the gloves. I don't ever handle them with gloves ever but I was cleaning something unrelated when I came to the rat room to drop off something when I went to say hi to her (she is always by the door wanting to come out!!) and I saw her shaking. She was fine just hours ago

For the foreseeable future she will be staying here. I love and appreciate you all so much and I am always so amazed how many of you guys are willing with open hearts ready to adopt literally every rat that is ufa, even the special needs.

I will follow up with a post later today with how she is doing. I am technically posting this at 11pm the night before but scheduling it to post this morning so fb doesn't burry/kill the traction ....

Johanna & Jennie are totally different rats today then they were last week!!

I was making them their Critical Carnivore Oxbow mush with some goat milk and they both swarmed the gates!!!

Nothing is stopping these girls!

Johanna & Jennie are doing really really great guys!

They are still in recovery but I am thinking that they will be available for adoption (or at least a pending adoption) soon. They are so beyond sweet guys I can't even explain! They finally feel good enough to come out and play a little before going back to sleep!

They have been giving me kisses and have been coming up to me for some pets. They are gonna be some great pets!! They need to mostly get rid of their mites, and their UTI's and then they will be available

Obviously these two are bonded and will need to go together, so if you're possibly interested in adopting these two sweet hearts feel free to comment or message us!

They will most likely be 'special needs' and may need some medication from time to time but we would supply any of that they need for their life time and their adoption fee will be lowered.

(Sorry for the pink light! They're in my living room right now for their quarantine and we usually use our pink light when we aren't doing anything intense 😂)

Sweet girls from last night are doing great and hanging on very well. I was very happy to see them both alive and doing okay this morning!! They are eating and even drinking a lot so I am soooo happy!!!

This is Jennie, she is the one in rougher shape but she is such an angel. Hopefully she packs on some good weight and recovers okay!!!

Here is her cute little face. She just wants to be petted so bad she pushes up on me! And the best bruxxes. 💖

NEW MEDICAL EMERGENCY INTAKE

New intake today of some very sweet girls who are just needing a little extra help. Johanna & Jennie will be here for a minute with us!

As many of you guys know, we do take surrenders regardless of health condition, and these two were surrendered so we could help.

These two poor girls are suffering with some pretty bad Upper respiratory issues and URI issues, and mites ontop of all of that!

They are starting their quarantine and medical treatment already!

We will be watching them to see how they recover to see if they will be adoptable in the future, so not taking applications for these girls till we know they will be healthy enough to go to their new home. They are only 1 but have had a lot of medical issues and recovery for these two may take a bit and sometimes they never fully recover from the URI due to scarring.

Unfortunately vet care is just not accessible to everyone and that is why we are here. We are lucky to be in the position to help these because it is so hard when it comes to exotics and chronic issues.

I want to remind everyone that we are NOT here to Shame or bully ANYONE and will not be tolerating any hate about this. We are happy that they surrendered before it was too late and that we could help and that is all that matters to us. People have their reason for surrendering and I will never ever shame anyone for surrendering. It is hard to reach out and ask for help or even surrender any animal and I am always happy to help out.

I appreciate the care and concern when it comes to rats like this but please be respectful of those who were big enough to reach out for a surrender.
