Yesterday evening we held a fairly impromptu walk at Sequalitchew Creek, author Janine Gates of "Saving the Nisqually Delta" joined us, as well as our wonderful supporters who taught us about DuPont's history, native plants and local geography. We sent our gratitude and hope for the future to the land, water, plants and animals of the area as we experience the sadness and loss of development.

We talked of holding more walks like this throughout the summer and hope you can join us next time! Stay tuned for more information!

Thank you to everyone who made it our and contributed to the conversation.

At the trailhead!

We were unable to hold our work party at Sequalitchew Creek over the weekend due to issues with the cities safety and insurance standards but hope to continue our efforts as soon as we can.

In the meantime we are talking with community members and holding an educational walk this Wednesday at 5pm to commemorate the habitat and ecological loss we have recently experienced in DuPont.

We will meet at the Sequalitchew Creek Trail Head, where we will take a walk to observe the environmental changes taking shape. Janine Gates, author of "Saving the Nisqually Delta" will join us, bringing insight and education about how we can work to save our watershed. We will end the event by watering the newly planted native trees and shrubs we planted over the winter. Feel free to bring kids, dogs and a hope for the future!

Salmon are an indicator species, meaning their health reflects the condition of ecosystems. Their populations have declined because of;

· development
· pollution
· dams
· climate change
· overfishing

In the Pacific Northwest, many salmon species are now threatened or endangered, harming both ecosystems and Tribal communities that rely on them. You can help by supporting local restoration organizations, like the Clover Creek Restoration Alliance. Restoring habitat is essential for the recovery of salmon populations across the West Coast.
