Westernaires is a non-profit youth horseback riding organization, founded in 1949, and based in Jefferson County, Colorado. Matriculating through the Westernaires organization, its top riders travel all across North America and are frequently referred to as "the best precision mounted drill team at speed anywhere in the world." Over those past seven decades, thousands of individuals have graduated

from the organization, thousands of volunteers have assisted in the matriculation of those young members, and tens of thousands of others have partaken in Westernaires classes and activities. We, the Westernaires Alumni Association, seek to unite that network of past and present, celebrate the organization's recent successes, and share its rich and vibrant history.

BONUS POINTS to the alumni, family, or friends of Westernaires who can identify this lovely white inanimate horse who played the role of "horse who cast himself against the railing" this week during a safety training program for Westernaires Wranglers and adult Big Red Team volunteers.

Hint: he looks AMAZING for his age, but then again, he's only been goofing around in the shop for the last few decades. Who is this VIP white Westernaire performer?

We couldn't be more thrilled that Cindy's family brought her to the Westernaires Museum yesterday, and we can't wait to talk more with Cindy about her Westernaires memories!

Let's go back 50 years in time to the start of the Festival of the West. Festival of the West was a huge show that was hosted at the Jeffco Fairgrounds by Westernaires, Jefferson County Sheriff, and other local groups in celebration of Colorado's 100th birthday. Here's a snapshot of our Westernaires tractor (affixed with horses on the tractor shovel!) and people-hauler wagon bringing Festival visitors to into Fort Westernaire for tours of our facilities. In the background, you'll also see the venerable Westernaires Field Kitchen trailer.

As we celebrate Colorado's 150th birthday this year -- Colorado's Sesquicentennial year -- join us as we glance back to more of these fun memories of the Centennial celebration.

As we prepare for this year's venerable Westernaires Alumni Homecoming, we'd love to share this fun look at the 1971 Horsecapades graciously shared with us by alumna Ellen Bondurant.

Home movie cameras and footage like this are such a gift, providing a peek into great moments in time.

Remember that Westernaires sustains its entire year through fundraising for this weekend's show. Please support the future of Westernaires by contributing a little or a lot, or buy tickets to the show: https://www.westernaires.org/support/horsecapades

Please enjoy this footage of the 1971 Westernaires Horsecapades Show and the 1972 National Western Stock Show, including behind the scenes footage.

Seventy-six years ago, the Lakewood Youth Council asked the head of the Lakewood Riding Club to help create more activities for kids in the Denver area. The Wylands began with a small group of riders and crafted a tradition that’s still shaping young lives today. Horsecapades honors that spirit — come see it live on Oct 18-19, or support the mission by donating. https://www.westernaires.org/support/horsecapades

For 76 years, Westernaires has celebrated the best of the West — horsemanship, heritage, and heart. At our annual Horsecapades fundraising show on Sunday October 19th, we welcome Dr. Temple Grandin, a modern pioneer of understanding animals and education. Come out and honor this special guest with us: https://www.westernaires.org/support/horsecapades
