Jeffco Schools Foundation's Serving Kids clothing program is in need of pre-K through high school sizes. The all-volunteer-run program saw record numbers of students needing clothing this fall. Here's a couple of ideas for clothing drives:
• Schools are encouraged to hold Captain Underpants drives and collect new underwear and socks, as did Hackberry Hill Elementary PTA. (https://sites.google.com/a/jeffcoschools.us/hackberryhill-es/)
• Families are asked to clean out closets as kids outgrow clothing, and donate slightly-used items to Serving Kids, like Support Jeffco Kids’ current clothing drive.(http://www.supportjeffcokids.org/winter-coat-drive/)
• Drop off unclaimed lost and found items, like Lincoln Academy just did. (http://www.lincolnacademy.net/pages/Lincoln_Academy_Charter)

Huge amount of respect for José Martinez from Bear Creek High School, who was a 2012 Jeffco Schools Foundation Teacher Hero. Teaching is in his blood, since he comes from a family of amazing teachers and administrators. Best of luck!

Huge congrats to Bear Creek High School social studies teacher Jose Martinez on being named one of three finalists for Colorado Teacher of Year! From CDE's news release: "Martinez says when he thinks about the most influential teachers he has known, he doesn’t think about their ability to cite content or dates, names and equations. He remembers them because they inspired him to do better and be better, something he strives to do." The teacher of the year will be announced in October.
