We honor and express our love and deep gratitude to Bishop Kenny and Rev. Estelle Martin for your 35 years of faithful ministry in the Free Methodist Church. Thank you for your impact at the local level as you pastored congregations in Missouri, Maryland, Indiana and California. Thank you for living out our core values by crossing cultural boundaries and ministering in urban, suburban, and rural areas at revivals, camp meetings, and college campuses. Thank you for your national and international impact and Spirit-led leadership following your historic election as bishop in 2023. We pray God’s blessings upon you in retirement even as we know God will continue to work through you in mighty ways.

Praying for Colombia 🇨🇴 🙏

Please read information and prayer requests below pertaining to the recent earthquake that happened in Colombia.

"Please pray for those affected by the 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck Colombia this morning.

"While the earthquake's epicenter was in the Department of Chocó, several of the cities most impacted are in the region where FM's Annual Conference is scheduled to take place this weekend. Praise God that all missionaries are safe, and all pastors, leaders, and church members who have been contacted so far are accounted for and physically unharmed. Although many are understandably shaken by the experience, the Lord's protection has been evident.

"Please also pray for those dealing with property damage. Reports indicate structural damage in and around Pereira, as well as in the nearby cities of Manizales and Cali. Initial reports suggest that the homes of at least three key pastors and leaders have sustained severe damage.

"With the Annual Conference scheduled to begin in four days in Pereira, prayer is needed for wisdom and clarity as leaders assess the situation. Information is still being gathered regarding damage to roads, bridges, the conference venue, and transportation infrastructure, including reported damage to portions of the Pereira airport.

"At this time, no decisions have been made regarding the conference. Please pray for discernment for those responsible for evaluating the circumstances, for safety for all involved, and for God's provision and peace as the full impact of the earthquake becomes clearer.

"Thank you for praying for the people of Colombia and for all those affected by this disaster" (Free Methodist World Missions).

Shout out to the volunteer team at Colville FM Church who ran an amazing VBS event reaching beyond the walls of the church! Colville FMC is currently awaiting their next lead pastor, and 30 volunteers in the church banded together to be the church to 36 children! The story of discipleship is built on mature believers sharing Christ with the next generation. Way to go Colville FMC!

“Join us as we pray for all affected by the Spokane area fires. As of [August 2, 12:00 p.m.], there have been over 600+ structures (homes, etc.) have been lost. Pray that God’s mercy and presence would be tangibly felt by all affected. Pray for the Church to rise up and be the hands and feet of Jesus.

“We know there are Free Methodist church members whose homes have been lost. This is especially impacting our communities at First Free Methodist Church, Spokane and Timberview Church in Mead. Opportunity Christian Fellowship is also in the region but further from the evacuation zone. As we gather updates from our local leaders in the next few days, we’ll share opportunities for your churches to help.

“Pray especially for these congregations and leaders who are both impacted by this tragedy and in a position to bring aid and hope:

- Spokane First Church led by Pastor Mia Shin
- Timberview Church led by Pastor Kenji Nitta
- Opportunity Christian Fellowship led by Pastor Daniel Bonney”

“Continue praying for the families in the path of these fires, for those who are displaced in the evacuation, for our faith communities at First Free Methodist Church, Spokane Timberview Church, and Opportunity Christian Fellowship, and for Supt. James Leman and his family who also are near the area of impact.”
