Austin Travis County EMS Safety Commander Roger Patterson joined us again to talk about their recent Forcible Entry policy and procedures revision. With a focus on the decision to force entry compared to the “how” that is the focus in many policies, he also touched on many principles of safe entry like how to knock knob-side of door and wearing ballistic vests when forcing entry w/o prior contact.

ATCEMS also won the 2025 Safety in EMS Award in October at EMS World Expo.

Kolby Miller is now talking about pre-employment physical agility testing. How do you build a legally defensible framework that improves provider and patient safety? Well Kolby spoke about the origins in Michigan that started with some lawyers, a paramedic, and a nun. A recipe for some great learning, (and the start of a punchline sometimes)😉.
