We thank the Lakeway Police Department and the City of Lakeway Government and the Lakeway Church for hosting an amazing Memorial Day observation event today. Today is a day for deep remembrance and introspection. Did you know nearly 1500 young men died on their last day of tour in Vietnam? Did you know 985 died on the 1st day of their tour? Did you know two 16 year olds died in Vietnam? These are just some of the numbers we take into consideration today. Thank you to those that gave all.

💙 This week is not only about remembrance, but it is also about gratitude.

We are thankful for the officers who continue to answer the call every day despite the risks, challenges, and sacrifices that come with the badge.

To the fallen: we remember you.
To those still serving: we support you.
To the families who stand behind them: we honor you.

As we reflect during Fallen Officers Memorial Week, we remember the officers across our nation who gave their lives protecting others.

Their courage, service, and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

We also lift up the families left behind — spouses, children, parents, partners, and brothers and sisters in blue who continue carrying the weight of that loss.

May we always honor their memory not just with words, but with gratitude, respect, and support for those who continue to serve.

Behind every badge is a person who chose a life of service, courage, and sacrifice; willing to stand between danger and the communities they protect. During Fallen Officers Memorial Week, we pause to remember those heroes who never made it home.

Their legacy lives on through the officers who continue to serve and through the communities they gave everything to protect.

We will never forget.

As a community, we need to close ranks on this. If you see this individual or this vehicle please call 512-261-2800 immediately and stay safe.

MEDIA RELEASE: The Lakeway Police Department is aware of a registered s*x offender who has been working in the Rough Hollow area and has been seen parked near schools. LPD has made contact with this individual, including arresting him last week on unrelated offenses, and is taking all lawful steps to address the situation. This includes partnering with local agencies to bring the matter to a satisfactory conclusion.
We encourage members of the community to call our non-emergency number anytime you observe suspicious activity in Lakeway.

Charitie brings over 10 years of experience to Lakeway PD and holds a Master Telecommunicator certification. She is committed to her profession and is always looking for ways to learn, grow, and support her team and the community.

She recently became TERT certified and quickly stepped in to help train and support others. She has also assisted with dispatch training policies, helping strengthen the Lakeway Police Department's communications center.

Her experience, leadership, and willingness to step in make her a strong part of the team.
