Manny's Fund

Manny's Fund This page is dedicated to the living memory of Manuel Michael Rodriguez, our son who we honor with "Manny's Fund" at Akron Children's Hospital.

Manuel Michael Rodriguez was born into this world on August 7, 2008 and went on to be with the Lord a few hours later. He was born with some undetermined medical challenges that claimed his life and sent him home. We found out we were going to be parents in February and we were very excited. The first few doctors appointments went well, nothing was out of the ordinary. We had fun telling our famil

y about the upcoming arrival and looking forward to the ultrasound when we would find out if we would be having a boy or a girl. The beginning of the ultrasound was great as daddy found out that he would be blessed with his "much anticipated first boy.” However, not long after, things began to take a nervous tone when the doctors became concerned at some potential irregularities. These irregularities became complications that led to months of frequent and regular ultrasounds at Akron Children's in the months leading up to his birth. A sudden turn of events at 30 weeks led to an emergency c-section where Manny was brought into the world, a small, handsome, wonderful little man. However, the joy of his arrival would not last for long. Due to Manny’s many health issues, it became apparent that our only option was to hold, love and hug our wonderful little guy until he would go home to rest. Daddy was the champion of the day as all of the responsibility fell on him to make decisions, plans, etc. for Manny since Mommy was still under anesthesia due to the emergency c-section. Not only did he officially become Manny’s father that day, he became his hero as he poured ALL of himself into the life of his precious, 4 pound little boy so that his short life would be the best he could be given. Without a doubt, Manny knew he was loved as he lived his whole life surrounded by, not only his parents, but many other family members who held him, hugged and kissed him and told him how much they loved him. In the final moments before he breathed his last, when daddy and mommy said, "I love you”, Manny opened his eyes, breathed a deep breath, and shortly after, left us, but joined his Heavenly Father. He only knew love on Earth and is now in a more perfect love in Heaven. We created this fund at Akron Children’s Hospital because it is our desire to see him forever remembered for the powerful effect he had on us, his grandparents, his family, and everyone who knew him in that short time by being used to advocate for patient safety and physician education. We pray that this fund will impact the lives of other children and their families as much as Manny has greatly impacted ours.

Not every part of a comfort box comes from a store.
Some pieces are painted by hand, one brushstroke at a time. ❤️

Today’s project: a rock for a comfort box going out soon.
A small reminder that even in grief, someone cares enough to create something just for you.

Today is International Bereaved Mother’s Day 🤍

We want you to hear this…
The absence of your child here on earth does not make you any less of a mother.
No matter your circumstances, you are still a mother.
We see you.
We love you.
You are not alone.

There is a moment I will never forget.

We finished the first episode of and showed it to the family it was made for.

I watched them move through something I did not fully anticipate. Pride first. The kind that rises when you see someone you love treated with care on screen. Then a quiet that settled in the room as the hardest parts of their story played back. Then something else entirely at the end. Hope, maybe. Relief. Joy that had tears in it.

The first words spoken after it ended: "This is absolutely perfect."

That moment is why this series exists.

----------

A Seat at the Table is a filmed conversation series produced through Fund in partnership with SamuelJon Media that gives bereaved families a seat, a camera, and an unhurried hour to introduce the child the world never got to meet. Each episode runs 3 to 5 minutes. The work behind it is significant. The result is something a family can carry for the rest of their lives.

We are looking for more families who want that. And we are looking for sponsors and partners who want to make it possible.

If either of those is you, or if you know someone they might be, we would love to hear from you.

Every child deserves to be introduced. We are here to make the room.

James Jerome Po***ck.

His parents Sierra and Cody sat down with us and introduced him to the world. He was stillborn on August 22nd, 2025. And now his name is on a screen, said out loud, by two families who understand what it means to carry a child no one else got to meet.

This is Episode One of A Seat at the Table -- a filmed conversation series produced by Manny's Fund where bereaved families introduce the children they carry to anyone who will listen.

Watch it now. Then share it with someone who needs to see it.

Maybe... help fund an episode for a family today.

His name is James Jerome Po***ck.

He was stillborn on August 22nd, 2025. And last month, his parents Sierra and Cody sat down with us and introduced him to the world.

That's Episode One of A Seat at the Table.

No script. No interview format. Just two families in a room, saying a name out loud that deserved to be said. Sierra and Cody talked about who James Jerome was. What they want people to know about him. What has helped. And at the very end of the episode -- his name. On screen. The last thing you see.

That's the whole point.

This series exists because of Manny. And it continues because of families like the Po***cks, who were willing to sit down and let us tell their son's story. And because of , the organization Sierra and Cody founded after losing James, who believed in this before there was anything to show.

Episode One is live now. Watch it at mannysfund.org/seat.

If you know a family who deserves their own episode, that door is open too.

James Jerome Po***ck.

Come pack a comfort box with me 🤍

Each item is placed with intention... chosen not to fix anything, but to offer a small measure of care during one of the hardest moments a family can face.

These boxes are created for parents experiencing pregnancy or infant loss. A quiet way to say: you are not alone, and your child is remembered.

Thank you to everyone who has helped make this possible. This box exists because of you.

Happy Easter from Manny’s Fund 🤍

Today we remember the incredible truth of Easter, that because of Jesus’ finished work on the cross, death is not the end. Through Him, we have the promise of eternal life and the hope that we will one day be reunited with those we love.

That hope is what carries us. It’s why Manny’s story doesn’t end here. We hold onto the promise that we will see him again.

If you’re walking through grief or wondering where hope can be found in the middle of loss, we would love to talk with you. You’re not alone.

He is risen. 🤍

The Stats:
Over 8,000 people have now engaged with posts connected to 's Fund and our "A Seat at the Table" series.

You have reacted, shared, commented, and told us this work matters.

We believe you. And we are grateful.

But this Monday morning, we want to be direct. 8,000 impressions is a deeply meaningful milestone. What we need now is 1 to 10 of you to move from watching to participating.

Every episode of A Seat at the Table costs real money to produce. Every dollar goes directly toward giving a bereaved family the space to sit down, look at a camera, and say their child's name out loud to the world.

Our first video is nearly done and expected to be released on the brand new mannysfund.org in the coming days.

Here is how you can help.
