Today is the summer solstice, the longest day of the year... The cusp as nature shifts from the growth and abundance of spring, back to slumber and rest of fall.

Take a moment today to find a patch of sunshine to sit in. Feel the warmth even if only for a few moments and appreciate the life sustaining energy hat the sun gives us all...

Today will be the longest day of the year, a day that will feel even longer than usual for many of us, but don't let it be your last. Find the glimmers in life that make every day worth living. Do something today that takes care of you, a walk in the park or a moment of rest in your favorite comfy place. Something to honor the work you have done in your life, however great or small. Rest is not earned, it is required.

On this longest day rest and be reverent to the nature around us that sustains us all.

Tomorrow. Tomorrow it's been one year since Mikayla has been gone. I have no idea how the time has passed by this quickly, how it feels like she was here yesterday. But we're doing everything we can to honor her and make her proud, and something we're very excited for is this new mural! And for tomorrow's memorial here at the rescue there are still some open spots available to celebrate everything she accomplished, and raise funds for her rescue. It will be held at our Minnesota sanctuary, and availability is limited. Join us tomorrow June 20th from 1-4pm. There will be food, music, a silent auction and you can watch this mural come to life live! All proceeds from the event go directly to the rescue.

Today is , and tomorrow marks one year since we lost Mikayla. Tomorrow we will gather to celebrate her life and the imapct that she made on so many lives. These two uniquely beautiful souls have both crossed the rainbow bridge now and I know in my heart that they found each other on the other side...

Luka fox is trotting in to say hello!
Most the time our educational posts are mostly about domestic foxes, but today we’re going to talk about wild foxes and how they can be a benefit in their natural environment!

Often farmers and even people who aren’t farmers villainize foxes and other predators out of fear of them harming their livestock, pets, or even themselves or their children.

Today we want to talk about the benefits of a fox being around the neighborhood instead of the risks!

If foxes are native to your environment, then they are filling a crucial role as a keystone species in the habitats around you.

Where there are humans there are bound to be rodents. Rodents are a huge carrier and transmitter of disease. Foxes are a natural predator to these rodents! Foxes will almost totally decimate a rodent population with ease!

They will also keep other small mammal populations in check, like rabbits. Killing predators causes prey populations to increase in number. Overpopulation can lead to insufficient resources, and eventually starvation. Overpopulation can even lead to diseases to more easily spread among the animals. As a whole overpopulation of any species can harm the environment in a variety of ways. It’s rare that predators become over populated, it is often prey species. Nature will keep itself in balance better if we do not interfere.

Foxes are rarely a threat to pets. Red foxes weigh around 5-10 pounds typically in the wild.

Cats are roughly equivalent sized and foxes won’t usually see them as a threat nor prey. There are exceptions to this though and caution should still be exercised and pets should be monitored outdoors.

If you have a fox in your neighborhood, sit back, relax, and enjoy their company.

These sweet foxes are from our "SAVED" group, and are some of the very first foxes that were taken in at our Florida location from the fur farm that Mikayla, our team and sister sanctuaries, and all of you worked so hard to close and empty. They are living their best lives now, thanks to each and every one of you who help to support our mission.
