This morning Ellie’s Light was contacted about funeral expenses for local 9 year old. We are so grateful to be able to assist this family by covering their funeral home costs.

The loss of child becomes the center of a family’s life for years. Not only are there funeral costs, but often medical expenses. Frequently in America, parents are afforded little, to no, grief leave. If they are, they are often unpaid days off. Furthermore, grief isn’t linear. It’s not just those first few weeks. It comes and goes. Families need time together, time to grieve, time to regroup. This all means lost wages. Rent, mortgage, car payments, food, can quickly become even more burdensome.
We aren’t taking away any bit of grief from this family. But we are taking away some logistical burden. And that does help.

Thank you to all of our donors and helpers over the years. As Ellie’s mom, I can’t even begin to say how this makes me feel. I’m sad for this family, but proud of us, warmed by all the love and so thankful that Ellie’s name is not forgotten.

Please keep this family in your prayers and heart, especially as we move into the holiday season. (not sharing name for privacy at this time)

Meet Parker!! (omg isn’t she adorable!)
She was born with a massive cystic filled and tumor-like mass on the backside of her head. After a significant amount of testing, she was diagnosed with a disease called “Congenital Melanocytic Nevus.” This disease is extremely rare.
Parker, her mom (Haley) and dad (Alex) live in Farmington, MN.
Because of the rarity of this case and this particular gene defect never being documented in a newborn before in the US, it has been extremely hard to find a care team confident in helping Parker.
Since Parker’s birth, she has had three debulking surgeries to attempt to get much of the nevus off. None have been successful thus far.
The family has finally found a team of renowned plastic surgeons and neurosurgeons at Boston’s Children’s Hospital who have worked on a similar case.
Currently, Parker and her family are in Boston for a major surgery to remove the mass. This will be a multi-step, high-stakes operation, estimated to last 15 hours.
Ellie’s Light donated Delta flight vouchers to fly the family to Boston.
Ellie’s Light is sending so much love to sweet Parker and her family!

We are so excited!

A little information on our event tomorrow...
Tickets are $20/ adult
$10/ child
And if you have a larger family, we want to keep it affordable so a family of four+ is $50 (immediate family).

Tickets include bowling, two pieces of pizza, a soda and a ticket for the kids game. Face painting and balloon animals also included.

We have a huge silent auction with 125 items ready for bidding! We also have a beer and wine wall this year!

We can accept checks, cash, credit card and Venmo. Cash and Venmo preferred!

This will be our 10th and final event and we are so happy to share it all with you!
