At BFA and Immigrant Kitchen we celebrate cultural diversity rather than choosing division. Ours are safe spaces, where everyone is welcome as long as you come in with curiosity, an open heart and respect. ✊🏽

Since our inception, we have hosted countless events with many, many cultures represented. We believe that respect for each other’s humanity regardless of our culture or skin color makes our community safer.

Immigrants belong here. We all belong here.

Immigrant Kitchen partnering with the .info onJune 25 to bring you a night of live music, exhibition, storytelling, and of course, food!

Unraveled is the Minnesota Historical Society produced podcast exploring our state history. Next month, we will celebrate the voices behind the stories with this dynamic event, where Yer-Yang Robinson will present a traditional Hmong dinner in honor of her late mother, Pai Vue, who was born in 1947 in Long Cheng, Laos.

In addition to Yer’s meaningful culinary tribute to her mother, Vivian Mims, BFA + Immigrant Kitchen favorite will demo her famous collard 🥬 and cornbread recipes (+ free samples!) in conjunction with curator James Curry’s exhibit, Soul Force.

This event is free and open to the public. Sign up quickly in the link 🔗 in bio— it is expected to fill up fast.

We can’t wait to see you there!

It takes so much to execute a beautiful Immigrant Kitchen event.

Meeting women from all over the world who have important cultural legacy stories to tell through their cooking 🥘, and then introducing them to the professional kitchen where they can gain skills to scale their food up for many guests to enjoy their talents.

There is simply nothing like home, 🍳! Immigrant Kitchen and our cohosts Safa, Deeqa, Morsal, and Farzanah are all thrilled to have the opportunity to present unique legacy food from Somalia 🇸🇴 to Palestine 🇵🇸 to Afghanistan 🇦🇫 to the fundraiser gala!

Don’t forget that Immigrant Kitchen cooks like these are available to cook and cater for your special event.

Thank you to for a magical evening!

BFA had the great pleasure of attending a House of Moana event, executed beautifully by Mounisha Gorle and Aana Agarwal who bonded over their shared love of Indian food.

Moana isfrom the South of India, and Aana is from the North. They collaborate on dishes like chaat-inspired Indian bites, paneer pita pocket, Asian cucumber peanut salad, Chicken biryani and Saffron cardamom kheer, served in an intimate setting.

Tess and I are still dreaming 💭 of Our Biracial Table, the one where we got to come out of the kitchen and into the dining room.

The two of us have been holding down the Immigrant Kitchen kitchen, helping women from around the world showcase their cultural legacy cooking. But just one thing: we have never had the opportunity to showcase our own cultural legacy cooking— until now.

Being a “biracial” or “multiracial” person in the US is a complicated thing. Often we are disconnected from one or more of our backgrounds, making it difficult to draw connections between culture and ourselves. We have to work at it, many times harder than people who have the privilege of already knowing.

This dinner was so special, and so vulnerable, for Tess and I to open up our kitchen, and our hearts to our wonderful BFA and Immigrant Kitchen guests. ❤️

Special thanks to and for your unique perspectives on the Nigerian and biracial experiences.

Our tables can and do get emotional. We like to say if a tear 🥲 doesn’t get shed, it’s not a BFA event.

While we are proud that we can create an environment that fosters intimacy, and make friends out of strangers, we are also proud that the emotion we most evoke is joy!

Come to an upcoming event and see for yourself.

Tess & Mecca keep the kitchen running at BFA + Immigrant Kitchen, making sure our incredible home cooks are supported when scaling recipes up for 100+ people, ensuring that the integrity of their customs and cultures stay in tact.

But did you know? We have combined decades of professional kitchen experience and as biracial women we want to express ourselves too!

A few tickets remain for our April 27 dinner featuring a collaborative menu from our shared European & Nigerian backgrounds. There’s nothing else out here like it!
