This is the third year that Chase has taken it upon himself to collect toys and raise money and awareness for the Zipper Junction Holiday Toy Drive, which serves families in Wayne and Pike counties.

This year, Chase filled an entire truck at Wayne County Ford with the items he collected!

Talk about Scout spirit!

Joshua Wooster, Life Scout with Troop 129 in Hawley, PA, recently completed and presented his Eagle Scout project to the GDS Fair Association.

Wooster made wheelchair accessible picnic tables to improve user experiences at the fairgrounds.

The GDS Fair extends their thanks to Joshua for his thoughtful gift to the Fair and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to the grounds again soon.

In the BSA, a “chartered organization” is the group that manages a local Scout unit. Central Volunteer Fire Department is the home of Scouts BSA Troops 129 for boys and 2619 for girls.

To help our charter org, the Troops took on the task of cleaning up the front garden at the fire department. Weeding, pulling dead plants, trimming, evening out the soil, planting, and mulching.

Here’s the before, during and finished product.

SCOUTS PARTICIPATE IN SHOOTING SPORTS WEEKEND

Members of Scouts BSA Troop 129 for boys and Troop 2619 for girls participated in the Greater New York Council Shooting Sports Weekend on April 29th at the Ten Mile River Scout Camps in Narrowsburg, NY. Both Troops are chartered by Central Volunteer Fire Department in Lackawaxen.

The annual event is offered over three weekends and educates Scouts on the safe and ethical use of fi****ms and archery equipment. Events include archery, BB guns, rifle, shotgun, muzzle loading, and “cowboy action.” All ranges are overseen by staff who are trained by the Boy Scouts of America and the National Rifle Association.

This year, eight Scouts from Troops 129 and 2619 participated in the weekend event, joining Scouts from 55 Troops in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Three Scouts earned awards for their marksmanship:

- Rachel Erb – First Place in BB Class C
- Joshua Wooster – First Place in Rifle Class B
- Zoey Wooster – First Place in Archery Class A
