Hello, my name is Desiree Shumaker, I'm the new grant writer for the foundation. I went to school at the University of Phoenix graduated in 2011. I'm here to help the community get the medical services everyone deserves regardless of the financial situation.
I'm proud to announce that the Owner and founder of Kindred Connection Foundation has been put in the Who's Who top business professional. Here is the article that was written about her and published.
Marissa Newman, Owner at Kindred Circle Care LLC, has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Business Owners for dedication, achievements, and leadership in residential care.

With years of experience to her credit, Ms. Newman has excelled as the owner of Kindred Circle Care LLC since 2018. In this position, she provides care for senior citizens and disabled clients in the Lake County, Oregon area on a 24-hour-a-day, 7-days-a-week basis. Supervising a team of 25 caregivers, including both nurses and certified nursing assistants, Ms. Newman offers off-site care for those in need, guides her team through training overseen by registered nurses, and accompanies her caregivers in the field to ensure their standards meet the company’s quality assurance expectations.

In addition to her role with Kindred Circle Care LLC, Ms. Newman has been additionally active as the co-founder and executive director for the Kindred Connection Foundation since 2022. Operating as the sole provider in the Veteran Affairs healthcare system in her county, the aforementioned non-profit organization assists the disabled and elderly within her region through essential equipment and services that are not covered by other local organizations or directories. With the goal of ultimately improving the quality of life of those less fortunate through compassionate care, the Kindred Connection Foundation also helps people struggling with end-of-life care costs, requiring meals-on-wheels services for remote locations, or needing emergency fundraising in her community.

Prior to these endeavors, Ms. Newman briefly served as a certified nursing assistant at the Lake District Hospital, part of the Lake Health District, for one year. She has been likewise affiliated with the Oregon Health Authority, the Oregon Board of Pharmacy, and the Oregon State Board of Nursing. Before embarking upon her journey in health care, Ms. Newman found success as a jewelry designer and a business owner.

To support her professional ambitions, Ms. Newman pursued an education at Klamath Community College, where she completed undergraduate coursework. Currently, she is seeking to support her academic efforts with a Bachelor of Science in health care administration. Ms. Newman has further obtained her license from the Oregon Health Authority, her durable medical equipment license from the Oregon Board of Pharmacy, and her certification as a nursing assistant.

As a testament to her exceptional undertakings, Ms. Newman was presented with multiple accolades for jewelry design throughout her early career. Regularly selected for inclusion on the President’s List at Klamath Community College, she was notably inducted into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society during this time. Furthermore, Ms. Newman and Kindred Circle Care, LLC were highlighted in the Lake County Examiner in 2023.

Ms. Newman has attributed her success to her outstanding care and the consistent excellence of her service, which has resulted in a high level of referral-driven business. She was driven to her present path with Kindred Circle Care and the Kindred Connection Foundation by her past experience providing around-the-clock care for terminally ill patients in her rural community alongside eight other caregivers. Among the proudest accomplishments of her career, she is incredibly proud of becoming the Veteran Affairs provider for her county, as she can provide immense assistance to veterans and the elderly that will not cause them to bear the financial burden of their quality care. Looking toward the future, she hopes to expand her exemplary services to other counties through a secondary facility for senior and youth care while continuing to support the future of her family, several members of whom have exhibited her compassionate values with their own careers in health care and public service.

Kindred Connection Foundation, INC.

Hello. I am Brooke Brown, one of our foundation's current directors, along with Aleasa Matthews and Marissa Newman. Marissa and Aleasa started the foundation to assist people in the community who lack financial aid for things our local and federal governments lack. I just wanted to inform you about the various opportunities and programs we are developing to benefit our community. We will later distribute a survey to gather your feedback on the issues and concerns you believe our community is facing and needs to address.

Program 1: Meals on Wheels is a non-profit organization in North Lake County that provides hot, nutritious meals to seniors, disabled individuals, and other vulnerable members of our community who cannot cook or shop for themselves. Recently, we talked with the head of the Council on Aging in Klamath Falls, who suggested that we attain a food truck to serve our community better. With a food truck, we could reach more needy people and provide meals in areas with limited access to food, such as rural and low-income areas.

However, we've encountered some issues with individuals falsely representing themselves to collect funding. We were notified of a lawsuit in Christmas Valley that addressed the situation. We want to ensure that all donations support our mission of providing nutritious meals to those in need.

Our goal is to expand our services and reach even more people who struggle to access healthy food. A food truck is a critical step toward achieving this goal, and we are unwavering in our commitment to ensuring that our efforts are effective, safe, and transparent for everyone involved. We want you to trust that your support makes a real difference in our community.

Program 2: Head Start's - Buzzy Bee Book time, our clients can share their favorite childhood stories with the children. This interactive reading program aims to promote early literacy and helps children develop a love for reading at an early age. During the session, the clients will engage with the children and make the stories come alive using different voices and expressions. This event benefits the children by improving their literacy skills. It creates a meaningful and rewarding experience for our clients as they connect with the community and give back fun and engagingly.

Program 3: "We would like to introduce "Date Night for Mom and Dad" - a new program that offers parents a much-needed break while their children have fun and engage in various activities.

Once a month, on a Friday night, parents can drop off their children at our building. We will provide a team of experienced caregivers to look after them. During this time, children will have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities, including crafts, games, and other fun activities.

Meanwhile, parents can enjoy some much-needed alone time, whether it's a romantic dinner, a movie night, or simply some time to relax. We understand how important it is for parents to take a break and recharge, and our program is designed to make it as easy and stress-free as possible.

Our caregivers are trained to provide a safe and nurturing environment for children of all ages, ensuring they are well-cared for while you enjoy your time. We believe that "Date Night for Mom and Dad" is an excellent opportunity for parents to take a break and recharge while their children have fun and engage in various activities.

So why not give it a try? We guarantee that you and your children will have a great time!"

In conclusion, to achieve our goal of becoming more involved with the community, we seek opportunities to collaborate actively with local organizations and individuals. We will also organize events and initiatives promoting community engagement, such as fundraisers, volunteering, and educational programs. We aim to foster a strong sense of community and create a positive impact that benefits all."
