It’s Wildlife Wednesday!

If you’ve spent any time around Portage Lakes State Park, you’ve probably spotted one of its most impressive residents: the Osprey — often called the “sea hawk.” These powerful raptors dive straight into the water with incredible precision, thanks to their exceptional eyesight and the ability to extend their legs while plunging nearly a meter deep.

With a diet made up of 99% fish, ospreys are expert hunters and have been known to snag more than 80 different fish species in North America.

Keep your eyes on the sky (and the water!) during your next visit — you might just see one fly off with dinner. 🐟

This 4-year-old mix is looking for a quiet, patient home. Denali knows sit, lay, roll (halfway!), and shake. She's a pro at leash walking and loves a slow pace. After overcoming ear infections, she's ready for her forever home. 🏡

Flood Advisory until 4:45 AM EDT for Clark, Fayette, Greene, and Madison counties, OH. Flooding from excessive rainfall is expected, with minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. Some roads may be covered. Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads.
