New to the area and wonder what the Lakeside Woman's Club is all about? Welcome to our monthly meeting @ 3pm Tomorrow Wednesday March 25th at the Lakeside Senior center in the book room. (That's the room in the back side where Liberary has their book sales behind Lakeside City Hall. Women 18 and over are welcome. Plus you don't have to live in Lakeside. We welcome women from our neighboring communities as well. We are a group of ladies who get together to do some fun things together plus participate in community events, as we raise money for projects that go back into our communities. Last year and thing we sold baked goodies at the Lower Umpqua Flycastors event in Reedsport. We visited several gardens to please to plant flower baskets or to buy flowers and enjoy the spring weather. We joing the Eel Tenmile STEP group and ODFW on the Kids Free Fish day at Tugman Park. As a fund raiser we provided a place for families to buy an inexpensive hot dog meal and baked goodies while their kids learned a lot about fishing and caught live trout from a pen on the Lake. Many kids received a free fishing pole.
Last summer and again this summer at the Lakeside Vintage Fair we held a Multi variety Car,Truck, 4x4 and Motorcycle show with Trophies going to the crowds favorites. This year will be even better with a new location by Wulfy Beach on the lake. Entry information will be going out in the comming months. We hope to have a booth with a few things to sell. Of course we had a few ladies outings in between with a Luncheon in Coos Bay for officer instalation. Towards the end of summer we donated Back Packs and school supplies to the Back Pack program. Later we supported and donate a Basket of goodies for a 'night out for 2' as Drawing item in their Spaghetti Dinner fundraising to the Hauser Fire Volunteer Association in their effort to rebuild their firehouse and vehicles that burnt in their Fire house fire. September broughtba visit the the McHafferty Farm Harvest Festival. By October we head to the McHafferty farm again to wander the the corn Maize and gather our pumpkins. At the end of November we joined with others in Lakeside on Haloween night for the annual Trunk or Treat with scary and not so scary costumes. We hated out candy and toys to the young trick or treaters, even the parents and teens. ๐ Thanksgiving found us meeting at a members home for a wonderful Pot Luck Thanksgiving meal and meeting. Christmas was a real joy as we joined new member Penny Nelson to rent her wonderful Trolley all lit up with lights and Christmas music as we drove to dinner in Charleston before driving to Shore Acreas to enjoy the Christmas lights together. Later we again held our short Christmas meeting at a members home with a Christmas pot luck complete with goodies and a Christmas exchange. After Christmas was a sad time for us losing a long time member Patricia De Meurichy days after Christmas and our member supported her family in their memorial to their well loved wife and mother. We continue to support each other through illness or death as friends.
Along the way we have made new friends and renewed the old with laughter, giggles and sometimes aadness and tears all while enjoying giving back to our community. Our activities change from time to time to match our imaginations. Come and spend some time with us getting to know us.
