What does it mean to "stay ready” for wildfire?

It starts with your yard.

Wildfire spreads when it has things to burn—dry leaves, overgrown grass, debris.

When you clear it, you:
Create space between fire and your home
Give firefighters safer access
Buy critical time for evacuation.

🌲 Don’t give fire a ladder.

Untrimmed tree limbs are one of the most overlooked hazards on your property. They can create a direct path for fire to climb from the ground straight into the canopy.

Here’s what to do now:

✅ Limb trees up to create space between the ground and canopy

✅ Clear debris and vegetation beneath your trees

✅ Keep branches away from your roof and chimney

Food waste in landfills releases methane gas, a powerful greenhouse gas pollutant that accelerates climate change and harms environmental health worldwide. Compost food when possible as an alternative.
