Just this week, we have diagnosed 5 dogs with heartworm disease. FIVE. 💔

With mosquitoes being a year round problem here in Florida, skipping heartworm prevention, even for a few months, can put your dog at risk. Heartworm disease is serious, expensive to treat, and most importantly, preventable.

When you forget your dinosaur at home, you improvise. 😂🦖🦞

One of our client’s sons was a little disappointed that he forgot his dinosaur at home today, so the lobster dog toy we gave his pup quickly became his new buddy and apparently, it needed a check-up too!

Thankfully, Dr. Matt had time to squeeze in one more very important patient. 🩺

After a thorough exam, we’re happy to report the lobster is doing great and was cleared to go home with his new family. ❤️

It’s the little moments like this that make our days at Paws Plus so much fun.

We had the cutest new patient come see us on Friday! 💜

Meet Moxie, a 3-month-old bundle of fluff who stopped by for her visit and completely stole our hearts. Those blue eyes, those fuzzy little paws, and THAT face?! We were done for. 🥹

Moxie was such a sweet girl for her visit, and we’re so happy to officially welcome her to the Paws Plus family!

We can’t wait to watch you grow, sweet girl! 🐾💜

💜🐾Community Cat Surgery Reminders🐾💜

We wanted to share a few important reminders for anyone bringing community cats to Paws Plus for surgery. Following these guidelines helps us keep drop-off organized and keeps both the cats and our staff safe.

💜 Community cat walk-ins MUST arrive in a humane trap
Only cats that arrive in traps will be accepted as community cat walk-ins. If you are able to get the cat into a regular carrier but would still like the Community Cat Package, including the ear tip and rabies vaccine, you must call ahead and schedule an appointment. Cats arriving in carriers cannot be accepted as walk-ins.

💜One cat per trap
Community cats must arrive one cat per trap. This is for the safety of both the cat and our staff.
Please check your traps before arriving
Make sure your trap is secure and all doors and latches are working properly. If anything feels loose, please secure it with zip ties. We will replace any zip ties that need to be removed for surgery.

💜Community cats are walk-ins
We accept community cats in traps as walk-ins on our surgery days. Please keep in mind that our surgical capacity is limited. If a large number of community cats arrive on a particular day, we may have to stop accepting additional cats. We recommend arriving early.

💜Bringing more than two cats?
If you are planning to trap and bring more than two community cats, please give us a call ahead of time so we can make sure we have the surgical capacity to accommodate them.

💜Trap covers
At drop-off, we will remove any personal sheets, blankets, or towels covering the traps and return them to you. We will replace your linens with our own before bringing the cats inside. This prevents your personal items from accidentally getting mixed in with our clinic laundry.

💜Please label your traps
Clearly label each trap with the cat’s name and the owner/caregiver’s last name. Masking tape and a Sharpie work great for this. We will confirm the cat’s name with you at drop-off before taking the cat into the clinic.
