In Ms. Riveras Business Technology and Career Planning class, students are able to take a short brain break and plug into something completely different from their daily work while still building problem solving skills and a strong team mindset.

As part of Social Emotional Learning, these moments give students the opportunity to collaborate, communicate, and support one another in a low stress environment.

Here, students are working at our LEGO table with the goal of building a mechanical typewriter. Students must work together to follow directions, communicate, and problem solve as a team. If the build is not done correctly, it will not function, so every role matters and every piece counts.

Activities like this support critical thinking, creativity, and hand dexterity, all while giving students a chance to take a deep breath and step away from the screen.

These moments allow students to reset, recharge, and return to learning with a fresh mindset.

Today is a proud moment at Southwest Middle School.

These students have just completed a three year progression through our Business Technology Academy, moving from foundational courses into our Digital Information Technology program—and today, that journey paid off.

They have officially earned their Entrepreneurship and Small Business ESB Industry Certification.

What makes this even more special… every one of these students serves in top level leadership within our FBLA chapter.

This program is designed to build over time, and their accomplishment reflects that commitment.

What they earned through this progression:

• High school credit in Digital Information Technology
• 3 college credits at any Florida state college
• Industry certification in Entrepreneurship and Small Business
• Leadership experience through FBLA

Congratulations Dream Team. So very proud of you all!

FBLA Literacy Project Wrap-Up: Book Club Success!

We are so proud of our amazing FBLA students who participated in our latest Book Club Literacy Project! This final meeting was filled with thoughtful discussion, collaboration, and powerful insights.

Students explored a compare and contrast between the book and the movie, discovering something truly meaningful,
👉 Books allow us to create our own vision, while movies show us the story through the director’s lens.

It was incredible to watch our students think critically, share perspectives, and support one another throughout this journey.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated, read along, and encouraged each other along the way. Your engagement, effort, and teamwork made this project such a success!

We are proud of the growth, confidence, and community built through this literacy experience. 💙

🌟 Mission Transition Success! 🌟

We are incredibly proud of our FBLA students who played a key role in welcoming incoming 6th graders and their families tonight!

With 22 members volunteering, our students greeted guests, guided families across campus, and supported the business lab experience—where future students explored Apple computers, participated in activities, and won prizes.

Over 100 guests signed in to visit the business lab, making the night a huge success!

Our FBLA students truly demonstrated leadership, professionalism, and service from start to finish.

Our latest FBLA meeting was full of leadership, service, and real-world learning. Members highlighted our Literacy Project through the Hunger Games Book Club, reflected on experiences from the State Leadership Conference, and began preparing for end-of-year leadership transitions. Students are also organizing upcoming community initiatives including Mission Transition, the 4th Annual OneChild Book Drive, and Flight to Honor.

In addition, our Stock Market Game (SMG) team has officially launched, purchasing their first stocks and beginning to build their investment portfolio.

We are proud of our FBLA student leaders for planning and facilitating such a productive meeting!

Today we move on to Chapter 2 as we start our chapter-a-day challenge!

Students also received their official FBLA Book Club buttons for participating.
✨ It’s never too late to join-audiobooks are available!

Inside Ms. Rivera’s Business Academy at Southwest Middle School, leadership is earned.

This week, we launched our Leadership Challenge Coin recognition system to honor students who demonstrate professional-level soft skills in action.

These coins are not participation awards. They represent initiative, teamwork, mastery, creativity, and integrity.

When a student chose to step in and help a struggling peer without hesitation, he modeled exactly what this academy stands for.

We are building future business leaders of America, students who understand that character, accountability, and service matter.

As a two-year FBLA Goal Champion Chapter, our standard is excellence. That excellence begins inside our classroom culture.

Character matters.
Leadership is recognized here.

Isarael, thank you for earning the Going Above and Beyond distinction and for not leaving your teammate behind.

Our FBLA National Gold Champion Chapter brought the energy Monday night with a team-building activity meeting. Members rotated through challenges, collaborated in teams, solved brain teasers, and earned rewards along the way.

Huge thank you to our Vice President and Membership Team for organizing a fun and meaningful evening complete with dirty sodas, donuts, and Rice Krispy treats.

This is what a champion chapter looks like.

Grateteful for leadership. Grateful for growth. Grateful for FBLA.

This Thankful Thursday, our Vice President Louie Cordero shares a special message of appreciation for his FBLA advisor during FBLA Week 2026. Moments like this remind us that FBLA is more than competitions and meetings it is mentorship, opportunity, and heart.
