IMPORTANT HOME TOUR UPDATE: We have ZERO confirmed houses for the 2025 home tour. If we can 't get to at LEAST 7 (prefer 8) by end January 15 we will have to cancel the tour. If you are willing to have your home in the tour on Saturday, April 5.
You can message this LMNA page, email us at [email protected] or text Julie at 863.288.0317.
Here's why you should consider showing your home:
It's super fun! It is probably the BEST way to get to know your neighbors and your neighborhood.
It makes you feel really good about your house! The tour attendees are always appreciative and complimentary of the homes on the tour. Who doesn't like an ego boost?
It's a great motivator! Agree now, and you've set a deadline for that honey-do list!
The after party ROCKS! 'nuff said.
Most frequently made excuses of why you can't do it:
My house is not ready. Lame! We all live in nearly 100 year old houses! It will never be perfect. Your entire house does not have to be part of the tour. Close doors and say "no entry". It is that simple. Otherwise, you are a work in progress, and people love to see that too!
I don't want people casing my house. It does not happen. The folks who come to the tour are regular folks who love historic homes and PAY to get in. WE HAVE NEVER HAD AN ISSUE DURING OR AFTER A TOUR WITH THEFT OR SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY. That's 21 years worth of tours with no issues. Data does not lie. Plus, we have volunteers who are there with you at every house - watching, guiding people. AND the event is insured with every home added to the event insurance policy.
It's a lot of work. Kinda. But it's 'good for you' work. Like exercise. You want to get your house projects done anyway, right? This just gives you a little nudge. And with this much advance planning, it will be a breeze, so commit now.
What’s expected of you:
The tour is April 5th from 11:00-4:00. The night before, Friday April 4th, we also have a tour of the homes for all of the volunteers and homeowners. We start off with drinks and food at a nearby restaurant, introduce the homeowners and match you with your docents. Give some general training and information. Then we all caravan from house to house. This is usually a 5:30-8:30pm activity.
Saturday, docents show up around 10:30 am to manage the tour patrons for you at your house. All you have to do is greet people and answer questions and accept compliments.
If you have friends or family that would like to be your docents, great! If not, we will get volunteers from the LMNA membership. Many of our neighbors have been volunteering for years, so they know the drill.
Please consider it. No pressure. Really. Contact us. [email protected]
