SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT TO OUR POLK PRIDE FAMILY:

The Polk Pride Committee’s number one concern has been, and always will be, the safety of our community. With that in mind, due to the recent surge of Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations, and after consultation with local health officials and our parent organization, we’ve reached the difficult decision to cancel all Polk Pride 2021 events.

This decision was not made lightly. We are heartbroken that we will not be able to celebrate with you, in person, for the second year in a row.

Our heartfelt gratitude goes out to all of the businesses, organizations, sponsors, entertainment, volunteers for their continued support.

Today we attended the memorial service for one of our Street Warriors volunteers. Walter loved being homeless on Saturdays while we were cookin and he was packin the lunches. He was greatfully our test taster. 😃 Walter, your infectious smile and laugh will always be missed. Well done, good and faithful servant!!

I am working at my downtown store by Munn Park. It is not even 6 yet and the homeless folks are starting to come to the park.mabey it is time to rethink this route

It is Street Warrior Saturday. We have been blessed this week to have our spaghetti entree prepared by our pastor at Christ's Promise UCC, our Sweet Warrior who bakes homemade bread each week prepared 30 pans of 6 sticky buns each for each of our friends on the street. Our other Sweet Warrior has made dessert. Some who have volunteered with us have also volunteered to be homeless for a day so they could get a lunch. :-) We have many cooking/baking volunteers behind the scenes who make us successful.

Street Warriors now has 3 teams going out each week serving downtown Lakeland, downtown Winter Haven, and Saddle Creek camp ground. Each of these teams is self supporting. Amazing what can happen with the right, inclusive spirit.

As long as you have a heart to serve others, you are welcome here. We do not require volunteers or those we serve to have a specific belief in order to serve/receive.

Be blessed as you go about your day. As you see cashiers in retail spaces, or restaurant personnel, instead of just saying "thank you" let them know you appreciate them. These simple words, I appreciate you, can change their day!!
