Everyone deserves a birthday party! Right? For some families, the thought of putting together everything needed to celebrate a child’s birthday may be overwhelming, outside that family’s budget or, if they are experiencing homelessness, impossible. Here’s where YOU can make a difference.
Aktion Club of Lakeland, Florida has taken on a Summer Service Project. This service project is to put together bags containing everything a family might need to make a child’s birthday that much brighter — we call it “Birthday In A Bag.” Our charity of choice is One More Child. These bags are given to OMC clients including foster families, family support clients and other families in their care.
SOOOO... What goes into a “Birthday In A Bag?” The items you decide to include are only limited by your imagination, but here is a starter list — though by no means does everything on this list have to go into each bag.
Choose a theme for each bag. Theme Ideas could include:
● Disney Character(s)
● Sports (or a specific sport)
● Unicorns
● Hippie party
● Tie dye
● Luau
● Movie night
● Polka dots
● Pick a decade (80s, 90s, etc)
● Just choose a color or color palette
● Spa day
● Facials
● Nerf war
● Water war
● Country/western
● All about snacks/junk food
● Fishing
● Any superhero or Marvel
Bags are needed for toddler-aged, school-aged, pre-teen, and teen-aged children. Feel free to be creative and add other items, if you wish. But, here is a list of items that each kit should include:
1. A few decorations - (balloons, banner, etc)
2. Party favors or game prizes
3. Cake mix
4. Icing
5. Tablecloth
6. Napkins, plates, cutlery
7. Maybe a party game or two

Please help us welcome our new Aktion Club Lakeland Board members. Yesterday our Lakeland Kiwanis Club Advisors Adam & Colleen retired last years Board and welcomed the new 23-2024 Board Members into their new role. Congratulations to everyone that participated last year and who continue to serve this year. We have new and exciting things planned.

It may have been storming last night, but it was all sunshine & leis at the Kiwanis Caribbean Night Fundraiser. Our Aktion Club Lakeland participated in Lakeland Kiwanis Club fundraiser. All proceeds raised benefit The Bethany Center for Grieving Children. Thank Lakeland Kiwanis for inviting us to attend this very successful event.

We are so proud of our Club's accomplishments. They enjoyed socializing, eating & running games for the night.
These types of events are so important, they get to meet their sponsoring club members & their families, as well as the community.

When we ask why did you join Aktion Club?
They all say; we want to help children & our community.
How beautiful is that to hear? ❤️❤️❤️

Aktion Club is located at Noah's Ark of Central Florida The Villages at Noah's Landing & open to the community. Ask us how to join. You do not have to be a Noah's resident to participate. We encourage the ID/DD community, parents & volunteers to get involved in this very special club.

Our club was invited to attend the 25th Annual Lakeland Mayor's Prayer Breakfast on Thursday. We are honored to be invited to such wonderful community event. We also joined our club sponsor Lakeland Kiwanis.

Aktion Club Lakeland volunteered yesterday at
LVIM food pantry. LVIM feeds over 1200+ families in the Lakeland community. Twice a month, LVIM packs boxes filled veggies, bread, frozen goods & goodies. It was our pleasure to help our community & LVIM. We will be back to help next month. Thank you Katie, Karen, Kris, Carol & volunteers. You all make this wonderful program run successfully & flawlessly. See you next month.
LVIM's food pantry opens on the 2nd & last Tuesday of each month.

Tickets are on sale for "Flipping for Charities," the 64th Annual Kiwanis Pancake Festival, presented by MIDFLORIDA Credit Union, hosted by the Citrus Center Kiwanis Club! This family-favorite will be February 11, 2023, from 7:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Publix Field-Joker Marchant Stadium.
