🌿💚 Happy Mother’s Day! 💚🌿

Today, we celebrate the moms, grandmas, caregivers, mentors, and mother figures who nurture curiosity, encourage adventure, and inspire a love for the natural world. 🌎✨

Whether you’re helping little hands plant seeds, explore trails, catch frogs, or simply pause to admire a sunset, you are shaping the next generation of environmental stewards in meaningful ways every single day.

Thank you for growing kindness, wonder, resilience, and connection both in children and in our community. 🌱

From all of us at Wild Compass, Happy Mother’s Day!🩷

🌸🌕Tomorrow’s full moon is called the Flower Moon!🌕🌸

The Flower Moon gets its name from the Algonquin peoples, reflecting the arrival of spring and the abundance of blooms across the landscape. 🌷

Other names for May’s moon reflect what’s happening in nature during this seasonal shift:
🌿 Leaf Budding Moon (Cree)
🌱 Planting Moon (Dakota people, Lakota people)
🐸 Frog Moon (Cree)
🐎 Moon of the Shedding Ponies (Oglala Lakota)

Each name is rooted in careful observation of plants budding, animals returning, and life reawakening all around us. 🌎✨

What signs of spring are you noticing right now? 🌼

Episode 2, Part 2 has arrived!!!

A sure sign of spring? Turtles are back out basking in the sun! Wild Compass Naturalist Alex spotted these shelled sunbathers at Sparks Park as warmer days continue to wake up the natural world.

Seasonal changes aren’t just seen in plants, they’re happening all around us in the animal world too. Keep an eye near ponds, lakes, and wetlands…you may spot a turtle soaking up the sunshine. 🌿

Have you seen any turtles yet this spring? Tell us below! 👇

Happy Earth Day from Wild Compass Environmental Education! 🌎🌱

Today, we celebrate the forests, prairies, wetlands, wildlife, and wild places that inspire curiosity, connection, and care. Every time a child turns over a log, plants a seed, listens to a bird song, or explores the outdoors, they are building a lifelong relationship with the natural world.

At Wild Compass, we believe protecting the planet starts with helping the next generation love it first. Thank you for supporting outdoor learning, environmental stewardship, and meaningful experiences in nature.

Get outside today, breathe in the fresh air, and celebrate the incredible Earth we all call home. 💚
