Our Story
Join us to fight for the civil liberties and resources that we are all entitled to, regardless of our poor decisions, or mistakes in the past. If you feel you can dedicate your talents or expertise to our efforts then please contact us and let us know what you feel you can bring to the table. We need your support and no matter how small of a contribution, we would love to have you become a part of our Original Guidance family. If you are a mental health, substance abuse professional, certified coach or Peer facilitator we are looking to develop a program of facilitators and coaches. Let Each One Teach One (LEOTO) allows clients to study and earn hours to become certified national/international/state licensed coach in nearly 45 different specialties. It gets them involved in something that is not only positive but also pays well. We are looking to build bridges that will get people from the prison gates or long term rehab facility, back into society in a healthy functional and supporting role, that will facilitate the better adjustment of other like individuals that they can offer guidance based on their experience, strength, and hope.
Original Guidance Foundation is a south Florida based not-for-profit corporation founded in 2014, which will file for 501 c(3) status in November or December of 2017. This will be the first time we have reached out for funding outside its own board of director's contributions which have funded its efforts since 2014. We will provide an environment conducive to facilitate growth and development, and properly provide programs that promote necessities for individuals coming out of long-term incarceration or treatment. We understand the importance of reentry and cognitive behavioral therapy, in order to forge a proper foundation that one can build a future on. We study how the employment troubles ex-offenders face from wholesale discrimination, trickle down into the rest of society, brought on by the iniquities of greed and prejudice. It is a real threat to the economic stability of the community since most of these ex-offenders returning would be not only unemployed but, by most standards essentially unemployable. Transitional services were created to ease clients back into society quietly, functionally, and responsibly after a trip through the “belly of the beast” (Department of Corrections) itself. Its barbarically ancient methods of torture, and forced behavioral modification, whereby emasculating the inmates with torturesome mind-games. Our primary focus is to reduce recidivism, which is essential to the economic recovery nationwide, and affects the lives of so many people in countless ways. We believe through proper life-planning, mental health awareness, addiction counseling, and training clients to pivot off hinge-skills and talents; inmates will learn to better themselves as individuals, while adding value to their worth as a contributing member of society. It is through practicing means of better living, creating a positive self-image, and ultimately strengthening themselves, their families, and community itself; they shall receive forgiveness. Once the heart is forgiven, it can then truly feel and be loved in light. The guilt that weighed them down at one time is now gone, and they can then be a part of the community, a new life to flourish without fear of damnation for their sins. It is our yearning desire that through this program we will be able to teach people the importance of balance in all aspects of life; bringing hope to the hopeless; and allowing the chance for every person to assume their inalienable rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Ultimately we are working towards changing not just people’s view of themselves, but the stigma associated with these individuals in the eyes of the community. The Original Guidance Foundation, Inc motto is “Building a Better World, by Building Better People”; we strive daily to communicate this message of hope to those in need, and facilitate positive changes in both the community and our clients. Our educational program will be a first of its kind along with the Department of Corrections we shall seek out to determine KPIs for prison reentry and put into place a actionably intelligent system quantifiable in nature, and conceivably realistic to produce in personal practical application for both the DOC and the clients taking the classes while participating in the study groups and benchmarking exercises.
As a whole OGF's G.R.O.W.T.H. Project will be a first of its kind and undoubtedly shall have an unexpected response to the process and positive outcome within the community where it is meant to have the greatest effect. Not only do we fight for the civil liberties and resources that we are all entitled to, regardless of our poor decisions, or mistakes in the past. If you feel you can dedicate your talents or expertise to our efforts then please contact us and let us know what you feel you can bring to the table.
