On Saturday, May 21, the world became a little bit darker as we lost Jessica Bayer—a bright light for friends, family and Coherently Aware Now, the organization she helped build alongside friend and founder, Eric Harazi.
It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to ‘Jess’ Bayer, Secretary of the Coherently Aware Now Board of Directors. Her sincerity and dedication to our mission and cause was evident in the organization’s growth from the time of its founding.
Bayer struggled with addiction and PTSD throughout her life, dealing with sexual assault and various types of traumas. Her trauma led to a history of addiction, and Bayer was in and out of rehabilitation facilities for six years before relapsing and becoming homeless on the streets of Dallas, TX.
It was during this time in Bayer’s life that she realized that she was ready for sobriety, and she was finally paired with the right treatment center in Florida, where her healing journey began. Her journey brought her back to her family, the ability to pursue and achieve her dreams, and to speak out on behalf of others struggling with addiction.
Bayer’s main goal was to help people who want to receive care so that they can chase their dreams. She was about to start her dream of a career in law, combining her love for psychology and criminology, so she could help people.
Her passion for life, her laugh, and her love with continue to remind us of her every day. She is survived by her parents and her sisters. Bayer will live on in every person we help through our programming at Coherently Aware Now, and her optimism and support will continue to guide our organization.
