The Lake View Historical Society recently received a donation from Black Hawk Men’s Club to fund the replacement of the existing HVAC system at the History Museum. The current system was installed in 1996 during the initial construction of the facility and is failing. The system also is not energy efficient and has difficulty maintaining consistent temperatures and humidity levels. The new units will provide more optimal conditions for the historic artifacts within the museum many of which are already in a fragile condition.
Earlier this year, the museum also received a $5,000 Grant from the Barbara & Gilbert Renze Charitable Foundation, which combined with the Men’s Club donation will fund about 50% of the cost. The Museum Board feels it is essential to get a new HVAC unit installed before this winter and we are requesting donations of any amount while we continue to raise funds. Donations can be mailed to Lake View History Museum, PO Box 483, Lake View, IA 51450, or dropped off at City Hall. The Museum is a 501C3 Non-profit organization and your donation is tax deductible.
This project will benefit all members of the Lake View Community, Sac County residents, the State of Iowa and the many guests who visit our museum by preserving our local history in order to educate future generations about those that came before them.
