This term, our high school students are studying entrepreneurship through a Shark Tank-style class, where they’re learning what it takes to build a business.

Yesterday, they had the incredible opportunity to visit and learn from two local businesses in Snohomish.

A huge shoutout to Heidi's Sandwichboard and Top It Yogurt Shoppe for welcoming our students and sharing your knowledge, experience, and insight with them. They enjoyed learning about your businesses and seeing your success in action.

We are so thankful for community members who invest in and inspire our students!

What does the High School Experience at SOAR look like?

It looks like students building highly detailed replicas of world landmarks—combining research, creativity, and craftsmanship.

It looks like diving into Arduino and creating custom electronic builds from the ground up.

It looks like stepping into a Shark Tank experience—developing real business ideas, refining them, and preparing to pitch to investors.

But it’s more than the projects.

It’s critical thinking.
It’s real-world application.
It’s collaboration and teamwork.
It’s leadership—learning how to take initiative, communicate ideas, and work with others toward something meaningful.

It’s the Teen Collective special events like our Gala—where they dress up, celebrate together, and create memories that feel just as meaningful as any milestone.

It’s laughter between classes, shared ideas, and a community that truly sees them.

SOAR High is a capstone experience that invites our high schoolers to rise to the occasion and SOAR.

SOAR tries to participate in a service project each term and they are always some of our favorite experiences. We hope to teach our kids the value of serving others, recognizing needs in their community, and taking action to make a difference.

This term we were blessed to work with Sonia and the Valentine's Senior Gift Giving to help deliver their gift bags. Items are generously donated from Sonia's family and friends and people all over the community! Follow their page to see how many Senior Centers this visit this week. So fun to see the joy Sonia brings to the seniors in our community.

Today SOAR Homeschool Community got to visit and help out at the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank

The director gave us a tour and shared more about their mission and important work the do at the food bank. The kids learned that Lake Stevens Food Bank donates the equivalent of 4 semi loads of food each month. It serves around 4,000 kids. Everything at the foodbank is labeled in English, Spanish, and Ukrainian.

After the tour, we got to help sort rice and apples into smaller quantities. The kids also got to help sort the donations we brought. The kids worked hard and got a ton of work done!

We are grateful for the opportunity to serve and be involved in our local community. :) Thank you for having us Lake Stevens Community Food Bank
