Hungry Hearts Foundation

Hungry Hearts Foundation Hungry Hearts Foundation is a non-profit program that provides supplemental weekend food to hungry children.

Hungry Hearts Foundation (HHF/HH), formerly known as Li’l Hungry Hearts (LHH), began in 2010 under the umbrella of the Lake Stevens Family Center to address the growing issue of weekend hunger among local school-aged children. In 2015, HH became an independent 501(c)(3) non-profit organization—and in 2025, we proudly merged with the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank to serve families more efficient

ly, expand access, and strengthen our impact in the fight against childhood hunger. Our mission is simple: “No Child Left Hungry” by “Taking a Bite Out of Childhood Hunger!”
Many students rely on the National School Lunch Program (NSLP) for meals during the school week, but face food insecurity at home every weekend. We provide Kid Packs—discreetly packaged, kid-friendly, supplemental food—that are sent home with students each Friday. In partnership with the Lake Stevens School District, our 100% volunteer-run program is powered by local PTAs, community members, and generous donations from individuals, businesses, churches, and organizations. Together with the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank, we’re building a more coordinated, compassionate support system to ensure reliable access to food for the children who need it most.

Shout out to these two amazing humans! They had a vision to create a thrift store that generated funds to give right back to the Lake Stevens Community. Lake Stevens Charitable Thrift was born from this idea, and in the first few months, raised just over $2,100 for us!

Stop by to continue to help other organizations doing good work in our community, and see what treasures you can find ❤️

💜 Thank you so much to the Mallahan family! 💜

For over 10 years, a local Lake Stevens family poured their hearts into helping children and families through their nonprofit, Make A Change. The love, kindness, and generosity the Mallahan family has shared has been truly incredible. 💜
It’s because of caring families like theirs that we can continue providing weekend Kid Packs and helping make sure children have food when school meals aren’t available.
Thank you for your huge hearts and for the lasting impact you’ve made in the lives of so many families. We hope to continue carrying that same love and kindness forward to help local children and families in need. 💜
Sending you all lots of love and aloha from the Hungry Hearts family! 💜

A heartfelt thank you to the Mallahan family, who faithfully ran Make A Change for more than 10 years. Their mission as a nonprofit organization was to help families and children throughout Western Washington, and their impact on the community has been incredible.

As they close their doors, their generosity continues to shine. Their gift donation to us was over $9,000, and they also donated a huge check of more than $9,000 to Hungry Hearts as well! This support will help both organizations immensely and continue making a difference for so many families in need.

These donations are unbelievable.....and we can't thank you enough!💜

🐻💛 Meet Our Newest Volunteer… Berry Brennan!

Thanks to Brennan Heating, we recently welcomed a very special (and very lovable!) guest volunteer - Berry Brennan - to help pack weekend Kid Packs!

Berry, also known as Brennan Heating’s CSO (Chief Snuggle Officer), showed up excited and ready to work… and he did not disappoint.

From helping pack food bags for kids in need, to “quality testing” a few snacks 😉, to diving headfirst into a box of his absolute favorite - mac & cheese - this cuddly bear gave it his all.

And guess what?
He even successfully packed a full Kid Pack for a hungry child! 💛

We’d say that’s a pretty paws-itively incredible day. 🐾

Our furry friend had such a great time, he’s already asking when he can come back… and we can’t wait to have him!

A huge thank you to Brennan Heating for bringing smiles, laughter, and extra heart to our mission. 💛
