Indigenous food, medicine and cultural practices have protected and increased the local biodiversity throughout Northwest Indiana (from Wolf Lake to the Indiana Dunes, from Lake Michigan to the Kankakee) over millennia, making It one of the most densely biodiverse areas in Eastern North America. And Lake Station -- sitting at the meeting point of Deep River and the Little Calumet River was one of the most important trading centers in our region for Indigenous people across Turtle Island for millennia.

Join us for a discussion of indigenous ecologies & culture in what is currently NWI which still shape the beauty and biodiversity of the area you call home. Discussion will be followed by an edible/medicinal plant walk led by Ezekiel Flannery!
