Selamta creates Forever Families for orphaned and abandoned children in Ethiopia, because every child deserves the love of a family.

We use a family-based model to create a place where orphans are no longer orphans, they are valued members of a community. And families who risk breaking apart can find the resources they need to become self-sufficient. 20 years of family, dignity, and hope. 🧡

Family: every child deserves a mother, siblings, and a home in their own community.
Dignity: every child deserves to know their God-given worth.

Hope: when a child knows they are loved and have a future, the wounds of loss begin to heal. Our grown children are proof, now leading and giving back.

On October 15, we celebrate 20 years. Help us carry these anchors into the next 20 with : become a first-time monthly donor, then invite two friends to do the same.

Healing doesn't happen in a program. It happens in a family. 💛

For 20 years, Selamta Family Project has believed every child deserves permanency: a mom who stays, siblings who grow up beside them, and a home that's still theirs tomorrow.

When a child knows they belong, trust grows. Fear loosens its grip. Old wounds begin to heal, because love that doesn't leave is powerful medicine.

For two decades, Selamta Family Project has believed that children who lose their parents shouldn't also lose their community. 💛
Instead of growing up behind walls, our children grow up within the community: in loving family-style homes, at local schools, surrounded by neighbors who know their names.
Because belonging heals. 🌱 A child raised in community learns they are valued, and carries that support into adulthood.

Meet Tesfaye! 🌟

For many years now, Tesfaye has been one of the steady hearts of our team. Whatever the challenge, he's the one who rolls up his sleeves and finds a way. Fixing, organizing, planning, helping: there's truly nothing he can't handle. 🛠️💡
But what makes him extra special is his love for children. His kindness, patience, and warm smile make every little one feel seen and cared for. 💛

In 2005 we were an idea. In 2006 we were home ✨

For two decades, Selamta Family Project has been building forever families, strengthening our community, and cheering on young people as they grow into who they were always meant to be.

As we count down to our 20th Anniversary celebration this October, we're thinking about everyone who helped us get here - you made this possible.

Now help us build the next twenty. Our "2 for 20" campaign asks one thing: invite two people - a friend, a sibling, a colleague - to become Selamta partners. 💛

Last week Selamta Family Project signed an MoU with fellow organizations, convened by AGCI.
We stop working in parallel. We start working together.
Walking alone was never serving anybody well - not us, and not the families who deserve a system that holds together.
