Lake Park Diversity and Inclusion Council members recognized the 'Woman of Year'- Jo Brockman at the Business at Breakfast evening committee meeting. Jo is an owner of the Brewhouse Gallery and allows the Business at Breakfast subcommittee of the Lake Park Diversity and Inclusion Council to meet at her establishment every Tuesday morning at 8:00am before they open. She openly supports the events in Lake Park and has been a staple in the committee for lively entertainment and good beer! The Brewhouse also has a gallery of local artist paintings and drawings. Jo Brockman is well deserving of this award and the Diversity Council is proud to honor her for dedication to the Town of Lake Park! In honor of International Women's Day, the Lake Park Diversity and Inclusion Council has invited Genie Appel-Cohen to present on the History of Women in Art on Wednesday, March 9, 2022, 9 - 10:30 am on Zoom. . Ms. Appel-Cohen is an award-winning artist and national workshop lecturer as well as a teacher of painting and colored pencil drawing. A juried member of The National Association of Women Artists, The Colored Pencil Society of America and The Portrait Society of America, she has exhibited in the Tate Gallery in London and was one of only 30 artists nationwide to be invited by The U.S. Department of Interior to paint en plein air in Montana’s National Parks. You won't want to miss her fascinating lecture and slideshow about the women artists throughout history whose work has prevailed in spite of being ignored for centuries.
